Positive:
- Location is very convenient; Hengtong Road station close by, a mall and konbinis
- helpful staff (side note if you’re a westerner: they are not very proactive which can come across as rude to us, but if you actively ask them for something they are super helpful, just text them on WeChat and they will help. Don’t expect them to speak English (not very common with people in Shanghai working in hotels - different to what we used to in the west), but just use a translator app and you will be fine)
- I have to disagree with reviews saying it was loud - I found it super quiet everywhere but I also stayed in the 6 people room. If you value quietness maybe don’t stay in the 24 people room.
Negative:
- mattresses are super hard - I stayed an entire week and haven’t had a comfy deep sleep all week sadly
- super strong smell fragrance that I personally didn’t like at all. I wouldn’t mind it in the common areas but it was also in the room where I slept
- few charging outlets and the one next to my bed was broken - just get a powerbank asap after your arrival and definitely bring an adapter since they don’t have the 3-way outlets everywhere, some were only type A or B
- cleanliness I wouldn’t consider really good, the toilet wasn’t scrubbed and the sink needs a deep clean
Neutral:
- hostel guests were very quiet and everyone minded their own business but I think this is just how Chinese people are. I didn’t mind it since I was meeting friends in Shanghai but don’t expect to 100% make friends there, it didn’t feel social at all
All in all if you look for a hotel in a convenient location and okay cleanliness and don’t require more than basic level of comfort this is the way to go. Decoration is pretty but I would have preferred more comfortable beds and better cleanliness instead of all that decoration.
I personally won’t come again but I’m also not in my early 20s anymore and value things like comfort more now so next time I will go for a proper hotel.
But thanks for the help and I still had a great time in Shanghai!

The decor here was CRAZY. Good price for a very cute district in Shanghai. really beautiful and lots of sofas for everyone to sleep on, some sofas long enough that three girls could lay down on comfortably lol. Each room had toilets which was super convenient and honestly rare. Very clean. I even met some girls here and we immediately went partying, it's a great vibe. Can meet a lot of friendly people :,) You can even rent qipaos! Only thing I would say there's not a lot of places to charge your phone besides the eating room and your bunk, so bring a portable charger.

One of the best, if not the best, hostels I've ever stayed at! It was definitely made for women to feel at home. It's comfortable, quiet, and has all the necessary amenities, even fragrance lotion in the bathroom! It was the best part of my trip to Shanghai.

Location was great! It’s right at Hanzhong Station, which connects to three subway lines, super convenient for getting around. There are also a few malls nearby with plenty of food options. Cleanliness was excellent too, the cleaners seem to do regular cleaning, at least from what I noticed in the mornings and evenings. Service by the longer hair lady at the counter was great, the short hair lady was not the friendliest.
Great that there was a toilet in every room as the shower room was a little walk away. Washer, dryer and detergent was provided in the shower room.
What could be improved is that, since it’s a female dorm, it might be better to avoid having male staff around during peak hours (early mornings and nights). The provided footwear, while comfortable, was really noisy and quite disturbing especially during quiet hours. The beds weren’t the most comfortable, and because they’re connected, you can feel the frame move whenever someone nearby shifts. The room doors are also quite bulky and heavy, so they’re often left open, which doesn’t feel very secure. And as my room faced the main road, so it was pretty noisy at night. Also would be nice if the communal areas were better utilised to engage hostel residents.

i was so panicked when i couldn’t find the location of the hostel since the building next door is the construction site so i thought i was in the wrong place. but actually everything seems nice and accurate as the photos posted. so KUDOS! i have give u that. the hostel felt safe for me and everything was comfortable. the only down side was that i got to have the bed nearest to the exit with all other 15 beds so there were so many footsteps to be heard at night. i guess if u r a light sleeper, ask for a change would have been a nicer experience. but in the end i was impressed as the place was clean and almost of the guests are young chinese students so it felt safe for a solo girl traveller!!

I always stay here on the weekends since I live in the outskirts of Shanghai. It is the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at! It’s also in a great location for doing local activities & trendy areas for foreigners. The staff here is the best part, as they’ve helped me so much— one employee even drove in the rain to get my package when it was delivered to the wrong location (by my own mistake)! The employee was so humble and kind— wouldn’t even accept my constant thank yous. The hostel guests here also tend to have much better manners (staying quiet, being clean) than other hostels in Shanghai. 10/10 recommend it, thank you to the staff! 🙏😊😊

Safe, Clean, and Comfortable Hostel
I had a wonderful experience staying It’s one of the best girls’ hostels I’ve stayed in — safe, peaceful, and well-maintained. The management is very supportive and always available to help with any concerns.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-ventilated, with comfortable beds and plenty of storage. The housekeeping staff does a great job keeping everything tidy. The common areas are cozy and perfect for studying or relaxing after a long day.
What I appreciated most was the sense of security — the hostel has 24/7 security, CCTV, and a friendly warden who genuinely cares about the residents’ well-being. The environment feels homely, and I made some great friends here too!
The location is convenient, close to subway, and there are lots of nearby options for food and essentials.
