Sunrise Apartments

We stayed in Sunrise apartments in the beginning of June. First of all I'd like to say a huge thank you to Nicko and Tonya, the hotel manager and his wife. They are amazing people,very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They made us feel at home during our stay. The hotel itself is located on a hill, but that's what gives you the best view of sunset and sunrise. They have a beautiful rooftop terrace with sunbeds, umbrellas, tables and chairs. It's a Beautiful spot with sea and mountain views to watch the sunset and have dinner in a relaxing atmosphere. The room was very clean and spacious with everything you needed and it was cleaned 4 times during our stay(10 days). All bedding and towels changed every time they cleaned the room. The cleaner was amazing too. She did such a great job. The pool was very clean and very pleasant, the water check was done by Nicko daily. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool. The hotel was approximately a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minutes walk to the supermarket, which was quite good and had everything we needed. Restaurants and taverns are all located within walking distance,but if you want to rent a car or scooter, Nicko will help you with that too. He is very approachable and helpful. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation and highly recommend Sunrise apartments to other guests. Thank you Nicko for everything you have done for us and put up with us all 10 days and made our Crete experience unforgettable.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The host Nikos and his wife are very pleasant and helpful, every room has a sea view, it is very clean and the rooms are spacious. The pool is excellent and perfectly positioned. Parking is provided. Sunrise Hotel is highly recommended!

Could not fault the staff, Swimming pool and bar. Rooms are dated but clean and everything there you would need. Would defiantly return.

For the price we paid to stay here we were not expecting much. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 2 weeks. I seen previous reviews the apartments are up a hill this is not an issue there is a step down to a less steep hill to come up just after the car park. We had an issue with parking on the first day but after that we had none. The rooms are cleaned every second day. The location of Sfakaki is nice and quiet. It’s central for going around all the areas between Chania and Heraklion approx 1 hour to each. Rethymno is only 10 min drive away and Panoromos the same in the opposite direction. Both are lovely towns for swimming Panoromos was better if like calm water. We mostly ate in around Sfakaki and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. I need to mention the Vanilla cafe. We spent most evenings after dinner sitting on their sun loungers or tables watching the sunset. You can also sit here for the day on the sun loungers if you want. The walk back up is short approx 5 min and as I mentioned the hill is not that bad, tip take the road just before apartments road when walking back up and use the steps i mentioned. I need to mention the speed of the owner in solving a sink issue leakage we had. They had it rectified straight away, so kudos to him. Overall we’d an enjoyable stay and would stay again.

We've just had a lovely stay here. The apartments are basic, but had everything we needed. There was a great mix of nationalities, families and couples. We still managed to have the pool to ourselves a lot of the time. It was a short walk to the beach and supermarket, although the way back felt longer as the hill was quite steep. The staff were lovely, we were always met with a smile and they were always very helpful, especially with ordering takeaways or making a lovely strong coffee in the morning.

Sunrise is situated up a slight hill in Sfakaki but don't let this put you off. Sfakaki itself is a very small resort and with these apartments being slightly off the beaten track it makes for a quiet and relaxing stay. You can see the sea from the rooms and it takes less than 10 mins to walk to the beach and nearest supermarket. The rooms are spacious and the balcony big. Our room was overlooking the pool and the sea. Usual amenities (fridge,kettle, TV and small oven). Had to pay an extra 5 euros a night for the air con but this was needed at the time. Reception and bar area offers a lot of different drinks including cocktails. Not a massive food menu but the owners happily order in gyros for you which arrives promptly via motorbike. The owners are really helpful, knowledgable and friendly. Pool area is clean and tidy and on some days we had the whole pool to ourselves which was a bonus. There's also a really cute kitten.
