Denis Private Island Seychelles

We spent 4 nights of our honeymoon at Denis Private Island and I decided to write this review after staying at four other 5 stars hotels after in Seychelles. Starting from the PROS: - The arrival with the plane landing on grass is amazing. Its like a 007 movie - The staff are very friendly and kind - The food is good and mostly sourced on the Island (meat and vegetables as well!) - There is no Wi-Fi if not in the lounge which is perfect for a relaxing holiday - ⁠there were max 8-10 guests (not sure if that is always the case) I am giving 3 stars because our stay could have been much better and the price is very high for the services received (we paid more than six senses and four seasons!): - there is zero equipment on the two main beaches (no water or chairs even) which makes the pool the only place to be during day time. If they say they do this for eco reasons - every other hotel has chairs to provide (and water) on beaches and Denis has built a concrete wall around the swimming pool beach area so if they can do this they can surely put some removable chairs - They don’t provide a tote bag which makes it almost impossible to carry your snorkel/towel/water to the beaches (they are 15-20min away with bike) - They don’t organise any recreational activity at all, only a power point presentation of the island! - There is no gym, no creative entertainment (which we found in any other hotel) and the tennis court needs a lot of maintenance. So there aren’t many options especially when it rains - ⁠they make you check out at 10am even if the flight departure is at 12.30

We stayed here for our honeymoon for 2 nights and honestly it was not long enough. We were sad to leave to go back to Mahé for the remainder of our time in Seychelles. The staff couldn't do enough for us, they were so attentive. Accommodation was stunning. Food was excellent. One night they took us to the other side of the island for dinner and to have drinks on the beach where they'd set up little fire pits for all the couples staying on the island. We would feed the giant tortoises whenever we wanted and we had the whole enclosure to ourselves. We snorkled and saw lots of fish, turtles and a small white tip shark. I've seen some reviews about WiFi, there's WiFi in the main lobby which is huge and lots of comfortable seating and amazing views, none in the rooms but this is no issue as they encourage digital detox. It forces you to enjoy the moment and slow down which everyone can benefit from. We have decided that we will be back for anniversaries in the future.

Denis island offers a truly unique experience. We came for six days for our honeymoon. The island has so much to offer, you are free to explore and roam everywhere - bicycle rides ending with a golden beach and turtle snorkel become a daily norm... With just a handful of guests on the island, you have all the space and privacy you could want. It is a very special place. The ‘farm to table’ concept is fully endorsed by Denis island, which anywhere in the world is impressive let alone on a tropical island! Exceptional food throughout with great variety and very high quality. No processed foods here, even the ice cream is handmade! (And delicious). Accommodation was perfect with beautiful handmade furniture and access to your private beach. Staff were all lovely and very attentive. This was a very special holiday, we will be back! I can’t say enough wonderful things about Denis Private Island. The staff go above and beyond what is expected, always a warm greeting and a wonderful smile from the Resort Manager to everyone we encountered during our days. The food was phenomenal the service exceptional. We loved our beach villa with the outdoor bathroom. Private beach with easy access to the beach. The house reef is great, we had the opportunity to see sharks, rays, Turtles, and many wonderful colorful fish. The spa massage from Florence was great. The team did all they could, to make my birthday really special. We cannot wait to visit the wonderful Denis Island again and we will recommend to the entire family and friends. Denis Private Island was a perfect place on earth. The small island is mighty in what it has to offer. History / nature / amazing staff / luxury cottages on the beach / an endless beach extended entirely around the island / rain forest full of birds / sea full of turtles / amazing food. The owner obviously cares deeply about his Island as well as Lorenzo and Vanessa with their amazing team. Attention to detail with warm / friendly smiles and focused on our every need. Absolutely Incredible. The food was amazing and the people there were all pleasant and did a great job taking care of us. We stayed in a Beach Cottage with our own private beach, perfect for us. Antony at the front desk went above and beyond to take care of us. The hotel even provided us with a dinner under the stars as we were there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Also the fishing and snorkeling trip was just perfect. It was a great trip and we can't imagine it being any better. Thank you Denis Island to provide such a great stay!
