We recently stayed at Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Sestriere as a large ski group — apparently the largest they had ever hosted at one time. Unfortunately, rather than feeling welcomed, we often felt like an inconvenience, with customer service that fell far short of what one would expect from a 4-star hotel. It quickly became clear that the staff take their cue from management, and the unaccommodating attitude seems to stem from the top down. Barbara, the manager we met on arrival, set the tone for our stay, and her approach likely influenced the unwelcoming atmosphere we experienced throughout. Dining Experience: • Water was not provided at dinner—not even tap water—unless purchased from the hotel. One guest was charged €7 for hot water for tea, despite the spa offering it for free. • Breakfast was underwhelming, with limited hot options: boiled eggs, overly crispy bacon, unappetizing grey sausages in water, watery scrambled eggs, and tasteless beans. A guest who requested porridge (as we had been encouraged to ask for anything not provided) was flatly refused. After purchasing their own from a supermarket, management then complained about outside food being consumed in the dining room. • Dinner service was rushed, with food being cleared away with large trolleys before 8:45 pm, dining room lights dimmed at 8:55 pm, and guests being asked to leave promptly at 9:00 pm — despite service supposedly running until 9:00. Spa & Facilities: • The spa required advance bookings each morning for 2-hour slots. Even when no one else was waiting, guests were forced to leave after exactly 2 hours. • Ski storage was mishandled—we were told we could store skis in the secure luggage room, only to return and find them removed without notice and placed in an unsecured boot room. Customer Service & Group Treatment • Paola, the bar manager, was extremely rude, outright refusing to provide ice for an injury. • Despite arranging a conference room for après-ski activities, noise complaints resulted in multiple activities being cancelled, even though the hotel had agreed to provide the space. All après-ski events were required to be shut down by 11:00 pm. • Our rooms, while clean, were shockingly small, with barely enough space to move, store luggage, or hang wet ski gear. The Few Bright Spots: Not everything was negative — Claudia and Hermala the two lovely ladies in the Wellness Center were exceptionally kind and helpful, and Davide at reception went out of his way to assist with retrieving ski equipment. The shuttle driver was also very accommodating with making sure that people were able to get a ride into town during his working hours. However, their hospitality was the exception, not the rule. Final Verdict: It’s clear that the management’s attitude dictates the poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere at this hotel. Their 4-star rating seems to be based purely on location, not on hospitality or customer service. If you’re looking for a guest-focused

Please make sure you read the March reviews carefully before even thinking about booking this hotel, because they are absolutely spot on! In a nutshell, 4 start decor and facilities, 2 star food and 1 star service overall. Rooms are clean, a little tight but ok. More space in a family room. Nice bathrooms with jacuzzi bathtub and good shower. Great view. Ski out system ok, but you have to climb up a hill, which people slipped on. Also the route back is complicated for anyone below expert. Food - bland bland bland, cold and you will be told you have 5 minutes to leave whilst you're still eating and they start packing food away 30 minutes before end of dinner at 9pm. They also turn the lights off while your still eating to make you leave!! They had a microwave out to het up individual plates of food. There is no water available and you are told not to bring water into the hotel from anywhere else, including no water bottles at dinner! Have you ever heard of a hotel dinner service that doesn't even offer tap water and bans water bottles??? There was tea, coffee, water and juice at breakfast - why not offer this at dinner? No fried eggs at breakfast, unless you pay extra and simple omelettes were €8. Overall, breakfast was still better than dinner. There was no lunch during lunchtime available, but you were told not to bring food or drink from anywhere into the hotel. So no eating lunch in the lounge! Outrageously, our belongings were moved from the store space in the hotel, down to the ski storage area in the basement WITHOUT our consent and also while were out. They then locked the store room and put up a sign for us to return to. They chose this invasive, aggressive action over politely informing us in the morning that we could no longer use the room. This would have been fine. I was deeply offended by what they did instead and had to come to reception and ask someone to find the hat I'd had left and now couldn't find. We felt unwanted and uncome. Our is nearly all black African/ Caribbean decent. I hate to think that this has anything to do with our treatment, but it is worth highlighting. The ski storage area contains lockers that do not lock. They obviously did at one point, but not anymore. It's small, crowded and inconvenient. There were some pleasant members of staff, especially the therapists in the spa, the fantastic mini bus driver and the very smiley lady working in the bar. Also credit to the cleaners, as the room was clean on arrival and bathroom cleaned well. Good service from the rental shop staff and some receptionists. Other reviews report other helpful members of staff, which I agree with but there are equally some very rude and miserable team members. Management are driving this hotel's demise! I spoke with a couple who stayed at the hotel 2 years before returning and they said that standards had drop dramatically in food and service. They took said they will never be back! I travelled with a well established ski group

This was my 1st time back in Italy since 2010 and first time skiing here since 2002. So I was totally looking forward to this ski holiday. The hotel is charming. It is a cross between a log cabin and a castle in appearance. Conveniently located to the Torino airport. Town is also close by with the 5-minute shuttle. My room had a beautiful view of the mountain. The hotel is close to the slopes. I would not call it an exact ski-in/ski-out. There was no place for you to put your boots on and go straight to your room as you were not allowed to walk in the lobby with your ski boots. So you leave the lobby, go outside, then go downstairs to put your boots on. The draw back with this is, if you leave your boots overnight there, it gets cold and stiff, as was my experience every day. Then you have to cross the street and then walk up a very small incline and then walk a bit before you can put your skies on. Not a big deal, but it just doesn't compare to other ski-in/ski-out that I have stayed at. The mountaines are amazing. I skiied the Italian and the French pistes. Amazing. The rooms are small. But it's Europe and to be expected, especially when you have all the ski gear to unpack. My favourite cuisine is Italian. So I was really looking forward to enoying dining at this hotel. This was my biggest disappointment. Many entrees lacked flavor and were definitely overcooked. The cooked vegetables were soggy because they were overcooked. I thought I was just fussy, but many of the people I was travelling with also felt the food was underwhelming. And our meals were included, but we didn't find out until we got there, that the beverages were not included. So even water had to be paid for and no complimentary house wine to be had in a major wine producing country. The staff was mediocre. Some werre friendly and accommodating and some were dismissive. A friend joined me breakfast. When I was leaving, she asked if the area could be cleared so that another person could join her. They were told to move to another part of the restaurant where there were already clean tables. Noted! House keeping. Sub par. There was never enough bath soap. But an abundance of shampoo. Sheets when needed to be changed, were not. I'll ski in Italy again. But I would not stay at this resort. I should have only given 2 stars. I did not feel like a welcome guest. But that was my experience.

We were made to feel like we were a burden. Never before have I stayed at a hotel and they didn’t even offer water at the table. We asked and were told that they sell the water and they refused to give tap water. The booking included breakfast and dinner, we were told that bringing food and drink including water from outside was not allowed, yet they didn’t do lunch. At breakfast and dinner they started clearing the food away 30mins before the end, they also came and told you that dinner was finished ten minutes before the end and asked you to leave, then they followed it up by turning off the lights while you were still eating. Between the hours of 10am-15.00 when the bar opened there was no way to even get a cup of hot water. The whole experience was something I’ve never experienced before not even in a third world country. One of my group had injured herself on the slopes and they refused to give her some ice from the bar to get the swelling down, not until the wellness staff insisted that the bar staff allowed her it. That said the building itself was nice, the rooms were very clean. Unfortunately they tried to squeeze as much as possible into the rooms, this ment there was no room left to move around and a lack of storage space for your belongings, which ment you lived out of your suitcase. I will add that I never stay at this hotel again. The management were not accommodating. In total contrast most of the staff, including the wellness center staff were very nice. I advise anybody wishing to stay at this hotel to read the reviews and think twice.

Our room was spotless and beautiful. The spa area was superb and having robes and slippers was a lovely touch. Unfortunately each breakfast and dinner buffet food was cold. Whether we were first or last to meals it was the same result. Such a shame. Otherwise a lovely hotel with ski in and out and added bonus.

Liz G Beautiful location. Welcoming reception especially David very professional. Room cosy and kept clean by housekeeping. However our dining experience was to say the least disappointing certainly for 5 Star. Having a background in catering Principi de Pimento fell way below the level of standard of even Industrial Catering I should know. Our stay was 7 days after Day 3 of bland ,tepid offerings one had to pursue the necessity to eat as the location of the hotel was outside Sestriere. It beggars to believe how the Head Chef of a 5 Star hotel could accept such low standards of quality and imagination come from His/Her kitchen is beyond me ,oh dear really street vendors have a higher standard of cooking than Principi de Piemonte and I go to music festivals where the volume of people is greatly higher .

The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel was well located the ski in/ski out and shuttle bus service gave everyone options of getting to the slopes. Our room was very spacious, with a jacuzzi bath and a picturesque mountain view from our balcony. The cleanliness of our room and hotel was excellent. The spa was topclass I would highly recommend Claudia for an excellent massage. The pool/sauna was spacious but we had to book a slot every morning so weren't always guaranteed a slot. The area between pool and sauna was a safety hazard when wet I slipped on the tiled floor, it hadn't been dried by staff on duty, and hurt my elbow. The food was buffet service for breakfast and dinner. There was a good selection of food but unfortunately it was either cold, tough or flavourless even the salsa di pomodoro (tomato sauce) lacked flavour. The queue for coffee every morning was frustrating, there should be more than 2 coffee machines. We were charged for wine we didn't order David, a true professional, sorted this for us. Tip if staying here don't include meals eat elsewhere

The hot food was barely warm, both for breakfast and dinner. This is suppose to be a 4 Star hotel. This was the same for the seven days. The hotel location is very good in being close to the slopes, if they improved the food quality it would have added greatly to our ski experience.
