Mountainside hotel ski out and ski in to within 100 metres from the underground boot room door. Rooms -nice & clean comfy beds ask for a Mountain View. Food - variety of usual breakfast fair cereals yoghurts hot beans bacon but cold boiled eggs. Evening meal is Buffet style so not 4 course table service. Bit like school dinners. You pile your plate up as it’s not always refreshed so things run out. Bit disappointing really for a 4 star hotel. The staff are lovely & friendly couldn’t fault them. Good location comfortable friendly hotel. Food a bit of a let down otherwise a good choice to stay in

We stayed over NY as a party of 14. The rooms were great, big enough, with plenty of storage for your ski wear. They were lovely and clean. The Barman is an absolute STAR and the staff are all pleasant. The location is spot on straight on to the slope or into town. Great boot room. Sadly the MAJOR DOWNFALL is the food. We had no issues at breakfast. But dinner is pretty dreadful and we are not an awkward group. Random combinations and the biggest issue it's all luke warm at best! Sort the food out and this hotel would be a cracker!

I have nothing but praise for this hotel. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I have special dietry needs and the chef and the waiters were very attentive to this and served really delicious food for me. The kitchen has to serve food for a large dining room and the clients come at all times, so a buffet is the best way to cater for them. I have never seen waiters working so hard to carry used plates back to the kitchen and help with client's enquiries, always with a smile no matter how tired they got walking backwards and forwards. It would be a difficult scenario to serve food as well. At least people can pick what they want to eat from the many choice of dishes and it also lent itself for guests to talk to each other and share tales making it even more amiable. I cannot fault the rooms either. Roomy bathroom and comfy beds. Wish i could go back now!!

Please do not believe the negative reviews about this hotel, they are over exaggerated... Yes the hotel has some flaws but overall this is one of the best hotels in a ski resort I have stayed in. The room was a good size and the shower was amazingly powerful, just what you need after a day on the slopes. The downstairs boot room is the best I have experienced in over 30 years, you had you own heated locker and a good size room to get your boots and gear on (albeit, it gets very warm). The food wasn't brilliant but was good enough in my view for a buffet style, mainly pasta and a meat or fish dish on most nights, people are not being realistic if they expect piping hot food served to the masses for this style of serving. You also get a free carafe of wine for your table. Breakfast had some warm plates for bacon and scrambled eggs and a decent selection of cereals and fruit etc. The Irish themed bar downstairs was lively and had a good vibe most nights, you could watch sport on the big screen, play pool etc... What makes this hotel in my view is the location to slopes, you can pretty much ski over to the main chair and drag lifts in 2 minutes, unlike other places where you had an uphill walk or even a bus trip to get to the lifts... The hotel was mostly occupied by the Brits which made it feel very welcoming with a friendly atmosphere and the hotel staff were very friendly. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would come back here without hesitation.

Came to the Du Col a few years ago and I was so excited to come back as we had such a great time. Positives: - Shower in the room was lovely and powerful. - TV in the room had English chanels - Boot room heaters worked well - Bar man was lovely and welcoming - Rooms cleaned well - Wine and soft drinks (not diet or Zero) served with evening meals - Great view out of rooms if overlooking the ice skating rink side - Near the slopes, although this is not a ski in/out, it is a 50-75 metre pole push to get to the flat area at the bottom of the runs/lifts and then a further push to the lifts. No chance in skiing in. Negatives: - Cramped restaurant with half of the light bulbs not working - Food cold, e.g. lasagna served that has come out of the fridge - Things were not washed up properly. One morning I had spinach in my scrambled egg from the night before. - Food ran out by 8:15pm - Dessert didn't come out until 8:30pm and when it did, it was a mad rush and not enough to serve everyone. - Room was cold and small. My mum and I had a twin room but there was so little room the beds were pushed together. This was okay for us but I'm not sure how others would like it. - Afternoon snacks were stale croissants and cake from morning breakfast - Hotel manager is cringy and wants to be your best friend. You complain and he tries to charm you. Didn't work with me. God knows what the people that are leaving good reviews about the food eat at home 😬

Holidays at Ducol in 2018/20/23..it was always a pleasure to come back, now things have changed completely, chaos in the restaurant due to the new bizzarre layout of the buffet, it compromises the comfort at the table, forget the fantastic food that was served with love and sympathy..On the plus side the location and the view of the mountains are great, but Crystalski should take the complaints seriously..

We booked this last year as the reviews were very positive, unfortunately when this years ski season began, so did the poor reviews. To be fair on the hotel, the the rooms are fine, perhaps lack a bit more storage, the boot room is adequate, although the boot dryers are far too hot and may damage your boots. Location is perfect, it’s the food and bar that lets it down. The very first meal was at best tepid, as was breakfast. I firstly complained to the manager who took not the slightest bit of notice, cold plates , cold beans …..I mean how get you get something so simple so wrong. Four out of ten of our group had belly issues, I avoided the fish and pork main at all costs. One morning I got a green smelly boiled egg, which I pointed out to the restaurant manager who apologised and brough me another egg saying that I was unlucky??? I gave him a run down of how to run a restaurant as this was something I used to do, he looked sad as if it was beyond his power to put it right, in fact we ate out the last few night over the road at ‘Baby’ it’s fab and hot. The bar man is fine but the bar lady sucks all the joy out of life , never smiles…..if you don’t want the job quit…..I fully intend to complain to Crystal as there are so many truths about the food on tripadvisor, just some people have no idea what decent hot food is and will eat anything. The area ski wise is ok, but desperately in need of modernisation with slow lifts, no covers , and not enough mountain restaurants.

Having read some of the recent reviews, we were concerned about having booked Hotel Du Col. However, having stayed, we don’t recognise a lot of the comments and wonder if they are describing a different hotel! The hotel is charming with lovely decor, friendly staff, very comfortable and incredibly warm rooms. If you don’t enjoy the lively downstairs pub, with live sports etc (be sure to take advantage of the 3 for2 happy hour!), the upstairs lounge bar is quiet and comfortable. The food is great if you like authentic Italian cuisine, with a large choice of antipasti with various salads, a good selection of pasta and mains. It’s on a par with other family run Italian hotels we have stayed in. Wine with dinner is plentiful and decent quality. We didn’t miss out on any food and everything that supposed to be hot was hot. The waiters and maitre d’ are welcoming and friendly. They were more than happy to help with dietary requirements or small extras. The chef was on hand and visible to talk about the food and even share recipes. Having not stayed here before, we don’t know what it was like 6/7 years ago, but can’t fault it today. The location is unbeatable. Walk out of the boot room and ski 50m onto the slopes - this is a ski-in, ski-out hotel. It’s a few steps to the excellent ski rental shop and a well-stocked Carrefour. The local pizza take-away is great. Italy is more expensive than in the past but a coffee in the slopes for €1.5 is a bargain.
