Hotel Dolomitenhof & Chalet Alte Post

I’m not one for writing reviews however on this occasion I feel it’s necessary. To put into context myself and my partner weren’t even guests of this hotel. So we travelled from Lake Garda to the dolomites with the expectation of doing the circuit loop hike of Tre Crime, starting at Rifugio Auronzo which is supposed to be a relatively easy 3-4hr hike over 6 miles. Approximately one wrong turn and 7 hours later, soaked through, cold, limping and completely lost we ended up at the Dolemitenhof which turned out to be our saving grace. We were met by a very happy kind and generous staff member by the name of Sigrid, we only came in to escape the rain and in hopes she may be able to organise a taxi for us back up to our car which was now parked 28 miles away. However we were sat down in a closed restaurant with blankets and hot drinks to warm us up (refusing all payments) whilst she rang around for a taxi. We couldn’t have been more grateful and can’t thank Sigrid enough. Approximately 30 minutes later our taxi arrived to take our sorry selves back to the car for the long journey back to Lake Garda. If it wasn’t for Sigrid we would have been in some trouble. If this is how non hotel guests are treated I can only imagine how good the service here is. I’d recommend this place without even staying!
