The boat ride to the lodge down the Zambezi River is a perfect way to start your stay. From dinners, the game drives, the rooms with their verandas... everything was absolutely perfect. I would love to have the opportunity to stay here again.

This was absolutely unexpected – the most luxurious stay during our tour. Very smart lodges with all the comfort with a charming touch of a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine. We had it sitting on a terrace and enjoying flow of the river. Though we did not see nor hear any hippos around, there were lots of smaller animals, such as monkeys, squirrels, and various birds. The only complaint about the place is the beds. They are beautifully designed but very uncomfortable to get in or out of them.

Prachtig huisje aan Zambezi, maar sfeerloze lodge De boothuisjes zijn geweldig en superschoon. Maar het complex is sfeerloos, personeel zeer ongeïnteresseerd op 1 of 2 na. Eten ok maar te duur.

Stunning Amazing river trip to get to the lovely lodges. Great pool with comfy loungers. Stunning design and view in the room. Only drawback was how long it took to checkout as the bill wasn’t right.

Our second camp of our 3 gondwana camps over 9 days. Check in was a breeze. Manageress Katrina was very attentative, She found out we were interested in seeing birds, and made sure we got a glimpse of the Scharlow Turaco which frequents the property. We were disappointed that the camp sites had the beautiful river view, and those of us in tents were situated in a circular formation, having to look across the beautiful treed garden at each other. The tents were however amazingly well equipped. Despite being winter, the temps measured 30 degrees which we enjoyed. The birdlife on the property was fascinating. We visited the town of Katima Mulilo, asking everywhere for cake and coffee. Eventually back at the lodge we took a boat ride to the sister Zambezi Mabula lodge, where finally we found pudding!! But it was chocolate brownies and lemon meringue with cappuccino's - just what we wanted. Now we know - ask for pudding. And the highlight of our 4 day stay was our birding boat cruise. Valentine was our private guide and extremely attentive. She knew her birds and had interesting stories of the area. She was happy to travel up and down the majestic zambezi river chasing a pygmy kingfisher so we could get the perfect photograph. But we also saw pods of hippo and beautiful Samanga cattle. We saw lots of locals on Mokoros fishing and enjoyed the rural life around us, huge flocks of birds and amazing skimmers. Definitely want to come back

Getting to the accommodation was easy (tarred road) and easy to find with Google Maps. We dropped off our car at the camp and took a boat to the lodge. This part is very well organized. The lodge is modern and we had a nice room (the last one towards the camp) with everything you need. The quality of the beds was exceptional. We had booked the lodge because of the tour to the carmine beetles. This boat tour to the spot where the beetles nest in the ground was absolutely top class. Our guide brought chairs with him and we (2 couples) were able to watch the beetles up close and in peace. Fantastic! On the boat tour we saw many other birds, crocodiles and hippos. A great trip that can definitely keep up with the tours in Chobe or Khwai. On the lodge grounds you can also see beautiful birds (striped kingfishers, sunbirds, collared barbets, malachite kingfishers). Breakfast and dinner were very good. The price/performance ratio was absolutely right here. When we drove back our car had even been washed. If you want to go to the Zambezi on your Namibia trip, you should include this lodge in your tour. We didn't really expect much and were very pleasantly surprised.
