The Shorea

We stayed for two nights at Villa Shorea and Villa Halia. The place is visually stunning—the architecture and the views are fantastic. Before we arrived, we read that it was a little run-down, and we were completely willing to accept this. However, we were not prepared for the state of cleanliness of the property. We were very taken aback. There was a layer of dust everywhere, and places like corners and edges of shelves and top of fridges were filthy. The towels were stained, worn out thin and one even had very frayed edges. The curtains were also filthy, and most had hooks missing. There was a used dirty cup with leftover tea, presumably left by previous visitors, in one of the fridges. The Shorea is probably the most expensive place to stay in the area, and we were expecting a much better level of cleanliness for the excessive amount we paid. The property has an army of staff, who are generally courteous. But there is a dire need for housekeeping training. It is a shame that such a beautiful place is not adequately managed.

The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, always going out of their way to ensure a memorable stay. The personalized service made me feel like I was at a home away from home. Dining at Shorea was another highlight—fresh, local ingredients prepared with great care, making each meal a delightful experience. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape that respects nature while providing an indulgent experience, Shorea is the perfect destination. Whether for a romantic getaway, a family retreat, or a solo adventure, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We had a great stay at Shorea. The place is just magnificent. The team is responsiveness and kindness: despite the plane delay and arriving late at night, the team adapted and the welcome was impeccable. Pool and view are amazing. Food is good. Just ideal for rest...

Nice view and location . A very calm and cozy place for family or couple . The diner and the english breakfast was amazing and had several options . I Would recommend and stay in this property again in the near future . Amazing experience in Malaysia’s Bali

Very cool and had loads of fun. The food in the resort was superb and extremely delicious. The accommodation also looked really well designed and fitted the environment really well and the overall atmosphere of the resort was really chill and relaxing. But overall I had a really great time here with my friends and I would definitely return again if the opportunity arises. 5 stars 🤩.
