This was like going back to the 1950s (which was about when this place was last refurbished). Both our rooms had a distinct smell of mildew, and the sheets felt damp to the touch. Everything is dated, noisy and cheap. A deeply unpleasant stay. And the couple in the adjacent room were having a massive row at 00:15 (not the fault of the hotel) but the fact that we could hear every word they were saying is problematic…

This is a peaceful and comfortable hotel with lovely staff. I especially thank the gentleman who checked me in and cheerfully assisted myself, my rollater and suitcase to my room at the end of what had been for me a very long and exhausting day. An excellent breakfast as well.

A beautiful building with great staff. The evening meal was delicious although the breakfast was not as superb as they advertised. The room we stayed in was a little out dated but that added to the eccentric feel of the stay. The only real letdown was that the bathroom was definitely past its day and some of the shower repairs were laughable.

What a lovely little hotel. Travelled with hubby and pandy the pooch. Does need a little update. But everywhere lovely and clean. Felt so homely and comfortable here. Our room was big and very comfortable.Receptionist so helpful. Would def return. Little gem, well priced.

We really enjoyed our stay, all the staff were friendly & our 2 dogs had a great time, especially at breakfast the sausage's went down well !

We had expectations of a lovely rambling house set in acres of gardens. The house is quite old, guestrooms are a more recent addition at the rear. Sadly the corridors have mostly worn carpets and poorly painted walls, which let this hotel down by a star. Our guest room had a comfortable king bed, a tiny tv, not much room for two small suitcases. The ensuite had a shower which we always prefer when travelling. Breakfast was adequate, the dining room, bar and guest lounge good enough. For both dinners we ate at the nearby pub. Would love to see some extra upgrading at Brickwall to lift it above average.

I've been eating here almost every week for three and a half years, I've brought a large tour group for a dinner, and I've spent three Christmases here with family and friends. It's fabulous. The hotel has an old-world charm, the staff are wonderful and the food is excellent. It's the most convivial place for a meal or a drink. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Very comfortable and welcoming hotel. Quiet location. Some road works outside but not disruptive. Excellent breakfast included in price. Near bus route to Hastings.
