Located in a small hamlet opposite a traditional country pub with plenty off street parking. Greeted by a very helpful & cheerful receptionist who apparently was only on her second day. Provided with a brief tour of the hotel and shown to our rooms. Our room didn’t have plug sockets by the bedside tables & as we had essential medical equipment we asked for help. Again this wasn’t a problem for reception and extension lead provided. Rooms are comfortable with some having views over the village green and public house. The menu is varied and the food is delicious. Again very helpful staff and service was timely and cheerful. A comfortable nights sleep, we needed to turn heating off as room was very warm. Breakfast provided was a choice of full English or continental. Very tasty locally sourced.

Although the hotel decor is dated, it’s clean. The staff are very attentive and convivial. The food in the restaurant is wholesome home cooking and very tasty. It’s like an old style hotel built around good food and service. It ticked all the boxes.

It's a lovely hotel. The food was great and the owner and staff were fantastic. I would definitely recommend the Brickwall Hotel to anyone that needs a hotel in this area. And if you live locally, give the restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed.

The Brickwall hosted a family wake. The staff were attentive, helpful and unobtrusive. The setting and space were perfect - lovely indoor and outdoor space and the buffet food was amazing - very tasty and plenty of it. Thank you so much - you made a difficult day a bit easier

The hotel staff particularly Sharon in reception are amazing ! So friendly and great service. Sharon did not have any fans left for the rooms and on the hottest night of the year gave me and my colleague her personal one from the office. This was over and above the call of duty and we were so grateful for her thoughtfulness and integrity to find a solution for us. The food was excellent and the breakfast was really well prepared and high quality ingredients used, all this with polite and friendly service. Thanks so much we are very grateful and would come again given the chance.

The hotel is situated in the lovely picturesque village of Seddlescombe, a short drive from Battle. The hotel has a good number of parking spaces, although no electric charger, and we did note there were quite a few electric cars in the car park. From the outside, the hotel looks tired and in need of some tlc. The staff member at reception was very friendly and took us to our room via a comfy seating area. Our room, no.12, overlooked a nice grass courtyard with a few tables and chairs. Unfortunately, this was where it all started to go wrong for us. The room we had certainly was nothing like those on their website, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable and the room felt somewhat dirty. One of the taps in the bathroom needed a washer change and was pouring water all night, I went back down to reception and there was no-one there to tell. We had a peek into the restaurant and decided against it as it seemed quite expensive and headed over to the excellent Queens Head pub across the road where we enjoyed a lovely meal. After one of the worst nights sleep my partner and I have ever had at a hotel we headed down to breakfast very early for a Sunday. The waiting staff were helpful, happy and engaging. The cooked breakfast was of good quality and there was a nice choice of cereals, fruit and pastries if you want to go continental. We went to check out and there was no-one there again so we left the key behind the desk. In summary, it was a very disappointing stay, the staff however have increased my star rating. I couldn't in all honesty rate it as average as it really was substandard on the basis of the room we were allocated, which needs an overhaul. Not surprisingly, we wouldn't return.

Lovely building grounds needs some Maintenance We stayed for one night staff very helpful Room very dated and tired looking Room 22 was freezing cold when we arrived all windows were open stunk of fly spray Bed was very hard didn’t have a decent nights sleep Later in the evening we wanted some heat to warm the room turned on thermostatic valves on radiators which remained cold Had noise coming from the loft area sounding like pipes banging from an air lock Breakfast wasn’t great Definitely would not stay there again

We stayed 3 nights at The Brickwall. The room was large and clean. The staff friendly and helpful. Parking was no problem and their parking lot was large. Breakfast was very good. Lighting in the room was fantastic. You can even read at night! The rooms do need some updating. I would highly recommend The Brickwall.
