"The overall accommodation conditions in Azerbaijan are not very good, but this one is OK. The front desk service attitude is average and they can speak English. The hotel is close to the military museum by the sea. The breakfast is OK and filling!"

"The hotel is a one of the best. You can be surprised if you need to make any changers of the booking. For example, my booking was made via trip.com and i needed to cancel the first night, i was advised that i can cancel all my booking without any cancellation fees but can't cancel only the first night.. Trip.com advised that it depends on the hotel, and the hotel advised that it depends on Trip.com. Nobody helped with it. Also if you have a late check in it is better to inform the hotel directly."

"This apartment had one of the best views. The staff were helpful and the apartment had everything you needed. It was located well and walking distance to restauriand shopping amongst other attractions. Definitely will stay here again"

"Stayed here for little over 2 weeks. Didn't enjoy the breakfast in the hotel, just not to my personal taste. The gym is much tiny than the photos shown, very limited equipments and not well maintained, ie. The cycling machine is faulty. Used the room service couple of times, the food was not reasonably priced for the quality. Daily housekeeping not consistent, I can tell the cleaner just empty the bin and changed the towels. However, I didn't see shower and basin area getting cleaned up during my over 2 weeks stay, as it gets dusty. Towels provided had marks on it sometimes. Overall, I think my experience here is subpar, personally, will not stay here next time."

"The restaurant staff is fantastic. They even interacted with us by saying our own language. The room is good. The shower pressure in bathroom is very strong. This is a hotel which we loved."

"Pros: good location, decent breakfast, attentive staff Cons: we got a room on the 6th floor with a view ”of the city”. In fact, the view was of the roof and the ventilation of the courtyard. The ventilation was very noisy and prevented us from sleeping even with the windows closed. The room itself was ”tired” and needed renovation"

"The room was very spacious and clean. The manager was very good. The front desk gave me a room on the top floor. I felt that there was equipment noise when I slept at night. The next day I proposed to change the room. The manager immediately agreed. The room was cleaner and large. The hotel's breakfast is also very good, with more varieties and enough nutrition."

"The service was not the best when we arrived. The receptionists took their time to assist us and when we finally were given keys, they just pointed to the lift and left us. The hotel room was quite outdated with a broken leaky fridge and a bulky TV. However, the balcony was quite nice and the view was amazing. The food was really good and it was plentiful."

"Review of Oldcity Inn Hotel, Baku, Azerbaijan I recently stayed at the Oldcity Inn Hotel in Baku, located in the heart of the historical Old City. While the location is undeniably charming, right in the center of Baku’s historical landmarks, my experience left much to be desired. Pros: Location: The hotel is situated in the very center of Baku's historical Old City, which offers a unique atmosphere with its ancient architecture and cultural significance. Reception Staff: The staff at the reception were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I liked the girl at the hotel reception, who was very kind with the cat. The hotel had a very cute cat, who came into the hotel in the evening and left in the morning. However, despite their kindness, they were unable to provide much help with guest problems such as transportation and logistics. Cons: Cleanliness: The hotel did not provide daily cleaning services, which was disappointing and below the standards I expect from any accommodation. Accessibility Issues: Check-in/Check-out Stress: My biggest issue was with the overall experience of entering and leaving the Old City area. Police and security guards surround the area with barriers, preventing taxis or any other transportation from entering without paying bribes. Tourists are forced to carry their heavy luggage for 2-3 kilometers, which is incredibly difficult, especially after long flights. After an hour of negotiation and paying a 12 AZN bribe (with no receipt or clear explanation), I was finally allowed to enter the area. Similarly, during checkout, the police fined a taxi driver 100 AZN just for waiting outside the Old City to pick me up. This created an extremely stressful situation that overshadowed the beauty of the location. Corruption and Mismanagement: The corruption among local police and security guards was shocking and disappointing. Tourists are regularly stopped and extorted for bribes, making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. There were no clear guidelines on how tourists are supposed to manage transportation in and out of the Old City, and no support from the hotel or authorities on this matter. Conclusion: While the Old City is undeniably a historical gem, I cannot recommend staying at the Oldcity Inn Hotel or any other accommodation within this area due to the severe accessibility challenges, the corrupt practices of local authorities, and the overall stress it creates for tourists. If you plan to visit Baku, I suggest staying outside the Old City and visiting the area during the day to enjoy its history without dealing with these logistical nightmares."
