Very comfortable room. Everything that you need was there and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The decor was tired but clean and there were certain little details that could have been rectified if staff members had slept in the room and experienced them. The night entrance is not the best to come through and needs some attention. Breakfast was great, and so was the meal that we had one evening. All in all the Waterford arms is ideal dor a short stay.

Overnight stay
Pleasant helpful staff, at check in and breakfast. We did not have an evening meal. We booked a sea view double room. The view was the highlight for us. The room was a good size, with a decent bathroom. An electric shower, so not as powerful as a rainfall shower.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and bottled water provided- with the largest mugs we’ve ever had in a hotel room.A good selection of cooked breakfast choices along with cereal and juices that you helped yourself to.

If you are looking for 4 or 5* ratings then the Waterford Arms isn't for you. If you want honest, no frills accommodation with wonderful staff and great food then you're onto a winner. We had a great stay and when the area had a power cut on a fully booked restaurant on Saturday night the staff were amazing. Despite a considerable loss of income they kept smiling and coped very well. Seaton Sluice itself is very popular at the weekend. Not surprising really as it is very picturesque. We would be happy to return.

Happy
Caring personal welcome and service. Helpful when needed. Arrived too late for food at 7.45pm there and at other pubs in vicinity. No room cleaning on a 2 night stay.

We stayed half board for 1 night. Staff were warm and welcoming upon arrival, checked in very promptly and they have a separate back entrance which was great for the dogs. The room was recently decorated, very spacious with a double bed, desk, chair, hanging space and a beautiful side view on the sea. The bathroom was completely modern and again spacious. Really nice touches including 2 x bottles of water, biscuits and all variety of hot drinks. The location is unbeatable with the beach and sea views, Castaway cafe is nice nearly. However, I’d probably recommend actually eating at the hotel, it is clearly very popular with tourists and locals. Breakfast full English was 5 items, but that was super filling and really good quality ingredients. We had HB which is a £15 allowance per person, dinner was great (massive fish and homemade chips) and the chef even greeted our dogs and gave him treats. Overall, the staff are a real asset to the hotel and made our experience very special. Great value for money - we’ll be back when we’re next in the area!

Thank you for your response to my recent review written on the 23 January 2025. I want to assure you that my comments were sincere and intended solely to highlight the poor service that both I and the seven others in my party experienced. Firstly, I found your remark, "you know where we are," to be somewhat threatening. It only reinforced my concerns, especially given the waitress’s response that evening: "What do you want me to do about it?" An apology would have been more appropriate and appreciated. I wasn’t seeking a refund or a free meal. In fact, it was your staff member who asked about the quality of the food, not me initiating a complaint. I had visited your establishment the week prior, and it was a completely different experience. For that reason, I would attribute the issues during this visit to an off day in the kitchen. I hope this can serve as an opportunity to reflect on ways to improve quality control before food leaves the kitchen and how to engage with customers in a more professional, non-aggressive manner.
