The Seaton Lane Inn - the Inn Collection Group

I wasn't going to write a bad review because I was giving them the benefit of the doubt as were we are large group and were told they were having issues with agency chefs they were using but looking at these reviews the same kind of issues have been going on all year and they can't just keep apologising for the same stuff and not making any improvements. We had 20 booked for a 40th birthday meal and I don't think it could of went any worse unfortunately. A few of our party had been before and loved it, presumably when they had their good chefs. We didn't think the menu was very big to start with but when we went to order there was loads not available so a lot of people didn't really get what they wanted, surely for a table of 20 it would make sense to take the orders before the meal to gauge what food needed to be ordered. When the food arrived no one was really impressed and a few people specifically complained about pink chicken, hard rice cold parts and a joke of a mixed grill, like another review said months ago the chicken on the mixed grill was a chicken gougon *****, terrible sausage, the meat was cooked wrong and the portion was smaller and tasted worse than a weatherspoons mixed grill, the tomato on it wasn't even grilled. After our starter was taken away some of us needed new cutlery so we had to ask and were told we had already had our cutlery, there was one set each....yes and then you took it away so we need more, why would you even say that?.. We asked how we were best paying and was told to go to the bar and say what we had which we did and paid in cash. We then realised about the £5 deposit we had all paid and went back to ask about it. They said we should of told them when we were paying and they had already took it off the total bill at the begining meaning the last few people to pay would have nothing to pay and they couldn't fix it so we had to work it out between ourselves. We didn't all know each other well and had mostly paid in cash so this wasn't really for us to rectify. Overall it was a very poor meal and not great service even though the girls were apologising and friendly. We were all in good spirits still and we will certainly remember the celebration but probably not for the right reasons, time to get yourselves a proper chef again guys!

Great place. Comfortable room. Fantastic pub/restaurant. We both had terrific meals. Just waiting on my cooked breakfast which is all part of the cost. Helpful and smiling staff. If we came this far north again, this is where we would stay!

Ok so having read the reviews I booked mostly Trip Advisor isn’t wrong right? Absolutely right this place is every bit as good as it looks the staff are just amazing from reception to the bar the kitchen send out wonderful food. Sleep quality was excellent no road noise no noisy doors or lifts etc the bedroom itself spotlessly clean great shower and toiletries ( ordered them already ) very comfy bed just great. In a heart beat by the way.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are well equipped, well decorated and clean. The communal areas of the bar/lounge and restaurant are well decorated and pleasant. The food is good although I would suggest that vegan/vegetarian dishes need to be cooked in separately (separate oil in this case) than meat and fish to be reasonably called vegan/vegetarian. But thank you for cooking the Sweet Potato Parmo in the oven for me instead, it worked well. All in all a great stay.

What a lovely hotel, the staff are really friendly and efficient. Rooms are excellent, very clean and comfortable, great showers too. Didn’t eat in the evening this time but breakfast was amazing. Looking forward to returning.

Very nice stay at the Seaton Lane Inn, comfortable and clean rooms. As for the food and drinks in the restaurant, highly recommend it.

Good value, easy check in, comfy bed, great breakfast, lovely staff, and a short drive to the coast. Perfect for a stay in the beautiful North East.

Very good food and lovely staff. The quiz on Sunday was a real bonus. The accessible room was ideal.

Shocking service and food! My daughter and I called in for a light bite at 5 30pm today. There were no other diners and the place was almost empty. We ordered tomato, pesto and Mozzarella on sourdough with chunky fries. After 40 minutes wait we were served sandwiches which were cold and soggy with barely any signs of Mozzarella. The chunky chips were also cold and the majority more scrappy than chunky! When we complained nothing happened! An apology from the bar staff and that was it. Dreadful, avoid if possible.
