Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains

This was a very disappointing “resort” stay. SO OUTDATED, needs a major update. The restaurant is a joke, the tap was broken, no draft beer. Our first room was dirty and had a huge bug on the floor. We did move to another room, which was better. We won’t stay or recommend this Marriott property.

My room was not clean, the shuttle was limited. But beyond thst, the Manager was so rude and ill mannered, does not belong in hospitality business. Could not rectify a single problem or acknowledge a situation. So poorly trained. I asked for access to General Manager and he denied me access even after my room was not cleaned. I left and went to another hotel and they charged me early cancellation fee. Horrible experience.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. HOWEVER…The property is in need of an update. Rooms are tired and not well maintained. Pool area has cracks and chips. Disappointed overall. Would not return until Marriott decides to refurbish the entire location.

The service was the poorest of any Marriott property I’ve visited. We had our room serviced one day out of three and that was only after continuous requests. Rooms are dated and pool is not serviced or even straightened up in the evening. Please keep in mind that you’re next to Scottsdale airport and the planes start up at 6:45am. Only reason for two stars were the valets. Front desk was awful.

Had a lovely stay, I'm a person with limited mobility, and the staff was excellent in finding me a room close to handicap parking, and also the valet service was excellent they had a shuttle ready for us to travel and also had a ramp for my mobility cart it made our stay very pleasurable ❤️ the food in the restaurant was absolutely excellent it was nice to be able to have dinner and drinks and such a nice environment

OMG do not listen to any good reviews. This place really is horrible. Awful food in their tiny tiny tiny bar which they also consider a bar called AGAVE. Their chicken tacos are the most awful thing I have EVER had anywhere. Their salads have so much dressing on them that they are soaked and should be ordered on the side. Do not come here. It is really bad and the photos are deceiving. Why is it that "calls girls" that hit on people or meeting people in there. So awful. Yuck yuck yuck. I will find another place. Worst hotel ever that make it look like for the elite. This place is such a nightmare. Zero stars for me!

3 star review - but to mention the good things first. The staff down to a person were all wonderful. The valet, the receptionist, Darlene (bartender) were all great. We were there for the Barrett-Jackson auto auction. They have a free shuttle which takes you right to the entrance of the show which is great. No worry about where to park etc. The not so good things. The hotel rooms themselves are very dated. They need to do a really big overhaul. We had the 2 room suite. The sofa in the sitting area was horrible -- we had to add blankets and pillows to sit on it. There is only 1 phone in the room...?? The bed was good, double sinks in the bathroom - but no place to store anything. Shower was miniscule. The dining is very limited (1 restaurant - Agave Grill). The food there is good, but you need to be in the mood for Mexican. You are close to the Scottsdale airport - so don't think you are sleeping late - the planes are really close -- bring ear plugs. Main issue was there was NO HOT WATER in our room. From talking to the staff - they knew about this - but still rented out the rooms???? Once they were made aware of the situation - they moved us to another room - which they did quickly and gave us a 30K Marriott point credit. So the issue was handled well. I would not stay here again unless we were specifically going to Barrett-Jackson.

The hotel is in beautiful location, 5 minutes drive from McDowell Mountains Preserve with plenty of hiking trails to choose from. We were warmly greeted and the reception desk employee has changed our room from from the first to the second floor per my request. Gated parking is $20 per day. Our suite had a big living room, a bedroom and a nice bathroom, which was a little dated, but sparkling clean (a walk-in shower and a separate bathtub was a big plus). The $30 nightly food and beverage credit included in the $30 daily resort fee - very good deal! The resort fee also includes one time perk of two additional glasses of house wine or beer, 2 tickets to the Musical Instruments Museum, daily bike rental and the shuttle to the attractions within the five miles radius (the latter two we don’t need). Worth every penny.
