Hotels was great service was fab and food in restaurant great. Only thing missing is a jacuzzi in the spa. Our trip was spoilt by the reception charging us twice for our accommodation. Already paid via trip.com and then got home to discover the hotel had also charged directly. Despite informing Hotel of this error on day of departure, a week later and multiple tel call we still haven’t the money returned to our account. As a result we will not be returning as very poor post trip customer care!

I arrived having pre booked a top floor room - no ! Was the response until I explained I have pre booked - then I got to my room having booked a double to get a twin room - then I got told no cash - when it started on you information that card only began in November - then on checking out - no body at reception- this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in - never never again and I will make sure non of my cycling colleagues and friends never have to go through the humiliation I had to suffer - discussed

Stayed at Cardrona Hotel on a 2 night dinner bed & breakfast golf break last week. We have stayed here on several occasions previously and both couples have to agree that our break and the way in which we we’re looked after was outstanding. The restaurant for both breakfast and dinner was excellent, particularly the evening meal was stunning. We ordered off of the Indian menu and it was that good, we ordered the same on the 2nd evening. I have to mention 2 members of staff who were both exceptional, Roxeanne and Ben. Many thanks for your professionalism and the way in which you looked after us, very much appreciated.

A lovely stay with friends. Rooms spacious with comfy bed. Bathroom had a walk in shower and bath which suited everyone's need. The hotel could do with a lick of paint but it was clean. The food was fantastic. The Indian menu was a surprise but absolutely fantastic.Roxanne and Ben looked after us so well in the restaurant and Max was great behind the bar. The Golf Course was in good condition and challenging. Chris in the pro shop was very helpful.

We had our wedding here on 7 September. I originally booked it as I fell in love with the grounds and the scenery. I soon began to have reservations as there were a good few issues leading up to it. We arrived the night before our wedding to find nobody from the events team were there and no handover was left. The poor staff there had no idea what was going on. We ran through everything with Nicki Harkness (front of house manager) and Salim (food and beverage manager). I went to bed that night stressed and thinking the whole wedding would be a disaster. Little did I know how hard Nicki and Salim were working behind the scenes. Our ceremony was outside and the wedding breakfast in their function room. Nicki spent all morning making the ceremony setting absolutely beautiful. Whilst she was doing the she was also running about after the bridal party and absolutely being wonderful. Salim was busy transforming the wedding breakfast area. The day ended up being better than I could have imagined. It was beautiful, the food was delicious and the vibe was happy. I cannot thank Nicki and Salim enough. Neither had anything to do with any of the earlier issues. We do not underestimate how much work, time, effort and sleep they sacrificed to turn around other people's mistakes. It is down to them both for turning a 1 star review into a 5 star. Incredibly grateful to them both and both are an utter credit to the Macdonald hotel chain. Tried to add photos but network patchy so will attempt again later.

Attended for a wedding and to be honest it was a shambles. Despite the fact that rooms had been double booked and the hall wasn’t set up on time there were other problems. I’ll start on the possible on major plus point. Ceremony outside was lovely, setting was absolutely beautiful. Now the bad points. Asked to move from the terrace to the function room at 4pm for the speeches. The beer hadn’t been pulled up to the function bar yet so no pints were available when everyone arrived. The lines still had water in them and one of the bar staff said the lines were still being cleaned (why you would do this on the day of a function I have no idea!!) The beer was then sour when it did eventually get poured. No microphone supplied by the hotel so it had to be supplied by the DJ or everyone would’ve had to shout. Food was decent but service was absolutely shocking. Plates were being cleared from the table whilst others were still eating, deserts were pretty much just chucked on the table. The table beside us had their main served and cleared before we even got our main. Not the service I would expect from anywhere, let alone a “luxury” destination hotel. Prices at the bar were expensive on some fronts but not on others. £26 for 2 rums and 1 bottle of coke is ridiculous though. Staff in general weren’t good. Grumpy bar staff who made you feel like an inconvenience, waiting staff who need trained better in how to actually serve and clear tables and in general weren’t very helpful. Some were lovely. But it was a select few. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking to hold a wedding or function. There are much nicer, friendlier hotels and venues within the Scottish Borders

Saying this is a 4 star hotel is false advertising. Room was terrible, thread bare carpet, holes & stains on the sofa, loose tiles in the bathroom, dust everywhere. Speaking to other people in the bar confirmed that this is the norm throughout the hotel. Lacking investment is an understatement. Evening meal: New menu which was only on its 2nd night the starters were sold out and we were one of the first dinners in for evening meal.My wife's meal came 20 minutes after mine and was luke warm, waited 15 minutes for the dessert menu and gave up in the end. The Saving Grace:. The Spa was amazing. The spa manger and the treatment staff Olga,Robyn were extremely attentive and without doubt saved our weekend. They both went above & beyond with all our treatments. Without the experience of the soa we would have drove home and abandoned the weekend.

Six friends and I spent four nights at this hotel with fabulous staff, immaculate facilities, delicious food and a happy atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again. Lots to do in Peebles and beyond, we even got lucky with the weather. Visit if you can

This was our fourth or fifth visit and I am pleased to say that the room we stayed in on the first floor was in much better condition than our last visit. The bathroom was lovely with a large bath and separate shower enclosure. However, the mastic around the shower needs renewed (see picture). We had dinner in the dining room. My wife has coeliac disease and ate from the gluten free menus. She ordered the Scotch broth but when it came she noticed that it contained pearl barley. Barley, rye and wheat cannot be eaten by coeliac sufferers. When she pointed this out to the server she immediately apologized and a different selection was ordered. The server was extremely nice and dealt with the issue professionally and with great courtesy. However, the soup should not have been on the gluten free menu. I also had the soup and found it to be almost tasteless. However we both had burgers that were really good. I have to say that the staff, all round, were lovely and made our stay very comfortable We had a very enjoyable round of golf and we were delighted to see the greens had fully recovered from our last stay and were in fact excellent. The cost for our round as guests was £25 each and £40 for a buggy (I thought that was a bit high) All in all though a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of the country.
