We were in town for a wedding. This was one of the hotel choices to stay at. Our stay was two nights. The suite room we were given was on the 2nd floor right over the main entrance below. It could be noisy as we could hear people out front talking at times. The room was spacious, there were ok, the sitting area was nice. The bathroom was decent and spacious. I had to put a towel under the door to keep out light and smell. The door jamb at the bottom was bent. When getting off the elevator on the second floor you could immediately smell something. That was another reason I had to put towels up at the door to keep the smell out. I can’t put my finger on the smell but it was high humidity throughout the hotel and almost a mildew smell. The AC in the halls, waiting area, and dining room didn’t seem to be working. It was always hot in these areas. The breakfast was ok. Typical Holiday Inn Express breakfasts. The sitting area was nice and spacious. The pool was nice but had bugs in it. I never saw anyone attending to it the two days there. My husband and I used the net to get the bugs off the surface so we could swim. It isn’t too far of a walk to a few restaurants and a big Pilot store. There were water stains on some of the hallway ceiling panels as well. Felt we overpaid for this hotel. It’s lacking cleanliness and care.

The outdoor barbecue area next to the pool is in terrible shape. The grass hasn’t been cut in months nor have the bushes and trees. Also, the door lock to get back inside is broken and you can’t get back in without having to walk around to the side to get back in. And the plastic Picknick table is all busted and cracked. The rest of the hotel was in fair working condition and their breakfast has everything you could ask for. All and all the hotel is nice but they need to keep up the building and grounds. My friend and I have been going to Round Top, Texas to the antique show for years now and staying at this hotel but it is getting pretty sad. The rooms need a complete redo soon for we will be looking into the hotel next door. The breakfast and the downstairs doesn’t look as bad as the rooms. I’ll post a recent picture of the bathroom floor, It was gross. I feel like I need to wear shoes at all times in the room. The humidity in the rooms are really bad Also. Everything feels wet - the bed, your clothes, nothing dries in the bathroom like towels or washcloths.

Stayed here on a cross country trip. Newer hotel in great shape. Normal great holiday express breakfast. An excellent choice. Lots of grass for our dog. Only issue is dinner choices are limited. We are at Lucies Tequila which is within walking distance.

Stayed at this hotel for my daughter's wedding weekend. We had booked a block of rooms 3-4 months in advanced. Loved everything about this small town hotel. The Suites are so comfortable and spacious. There is a living area with a sofa, coffee table, end table and a small dining table with 2 chairs. The sleeping area has a large dresser with plenty of room to place all your belongings and a large TV. There is also a small kitchenette with a microwave oven, mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker (with coffee supplies), and plenty of cabinet space for snacks and drinks. The bathroom is somewhat small but there was plenty of hot water and full size Dove hair products and body wash. The mattress, pillows and linens were very soft and comfortable. The hotel offers a free breakfast buffet with a large variety to select from, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. The service was prompt and very friendly. The hotel is easy to find and a perfect location to many restaurants and bars. Arlan's Grocery Store is a 5 minute drive, very convenient. Big Thank you to all the staff members for making our stay so enjoyable.

If you have standards I would not stay here. Moldy window sheers, the room is dirty and not clean. The A/C isn’t cooling the room sufficiently and the bed feels wet. I was better off in Columbus! The room does not appear to be wiped down, the desk chair is dirty, the room is crammed.

This is an extremely nice and well-kept hotel! All staff we encountered were very friendly, and the free breakfast was great! The pool was also clean and quiet! Nothing negative to say about this place!!

I was very impressed that how clean our room was. We had a spacious two queen bed suite. It had couch that made out into a pull out bed, a small table with two chairs, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable and they had an assortment of pillows soft, medium, and hard for you to choose from. The breakfast was very good, there was a large assortment to choose from including muffins, pancakes, omelettes, cereal, and some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had on a restaurant buffet. Michael who helps replenish the food was very kind he gave us a brief description of the food, he told where everything was located and he was very friendly and brought a smile to my face with his happy personality. They have a nice outdoor area with Seating areas on both ends of the pool and tables with umbrellas along the side of the pool. I also so a gazebo with with a couple of barbecue grills. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re traveling and plan to spend the night in Schulenburg.

Is it too much to expect a clean room and a prompt breakfast? I stayed at HIE Schulenburg the week of 6-13-22 and brought the cleanliness of my room and breakfast ready at time promised to their attention. The cleaning issues were not addressed. Breakfast was ready the next day at 6 am instead of 6:23 am. The week of 6-27-22 I thought I’d give this HIE Express another try. The entry floor to the room was slippery (this was before the rainstorm) so I decided to use a towel to remove what I thought was soap refuse. No. It was a dirty floor. There were 2 AC units in this room neither of which thermostat worked properly. I turned one off and cleaned the filth off the intake of the AC I did use. Needless to say these issues disrupted my sleep. The GM said she addressed these issues though there was no resolve. I contacted the IHG Customer Relations and , though they tried (3 calls) were unable to resolve any issues. I felt bad for the staff who is either mismanaged or misinformed or no follow up by the GM to ensure issues were resolved. The GM then called me and asked me to check out. Wow. And all I wanted and should be guaranteed is a clean room. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had many great experiences at IHG nationwide in my business travels. HIE Schulenburg, TX sullies the IHG values in my opinion. I was really disappointed with IHG. Schulenburg, TX. See picture of towels I used to clean
