Quality Inn & Suites Schoharie Near Howe Caverns

Recently stayed at this quality inn. Really only option in the area. Very overpriced. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Rooms were clean. Hallway smelled of **** & cigarettes. Could hear dogs barking in the rooms as we walked down the hall. We liked not having carpeting in the room until we went to bed and could hear EVERY footstep in the room above us. Continental breakfast was a joke. They had a great looking menu of all food items of the buffet when we checked in. Went to get coffee & grab something to eat & it was such a sad display we left immediately. My biggest issue was with housekeeping. Returned to our room on day 2 to find they emptied the trash & folded or gave us clean towels (not sure which) but did not make the bed! They also did not replenish the tissues. We have never been in a hotel that provides housekeeping but does not make the bed. Out of curiosity at checkout I asked why. Front desk said you have to ask to have your bed made “because sometimes people hide valuables in the bed & they don’t want to be accused of stealing” so they don’t make the beds. What?! Who would ever think to request bed making as a special service?! So strange!

Location seems a little run down. Quiet room pretty clean. Breakfast disappointing.

We had to change rooms due to the smell. The new room wasn’t much better. Dirty. Handles missing on furniture, stains all over ceiling. Toilet broken. The front desk gentleman tried and was very kind but the rooms are disgusting. The breakfast was limited and poor. I wouldn’t even use the water to brush my teeth. If there had been options I would have left the hotel. Very disappointed. Never again.
