ABSOLUTELY STINKS We were aware of a musty damp smell as we first walked up the stairs and down the corridor to our room. When we opened the door to our room...ROOM 242...we were hit with an awful smell. Probably the reason the window had been left open prior to our arrival. We sprayed around the room with my body spray hoping to mask the smell but it just kept lingering. We believe the smell was coming from the bathroom and in particular, the filthy dirty net curtains which most likely have never seen the inside of a washing machine....ever! We paid for a Double Sea View Room with "fabulous views over the Scarborough coastline" but what the hotel fails to mention is that the view is mainly of a large shipping container, a skip and the bins! Apart from this, the room was dark, the furniture very dated and overall, very much in need of some redecoration. The double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together with a double sheet fitted across. This made an uncomfortable bulky line down the center of the bed where the 2 mattresses met...oh...and the mattresses were as hard as bell metal! We woke at 6am after a restless night...and we were checked out by 7am. Do yourselves a favour and avoid this place. Your money is best spent elsewhere!

Went here early June there was a refurbishment program taking place so it’s difficult to judge our sea veiw room as it hadn’t been touched yet. Although it was very clean and the bed was comfortable it was dated. A cracked window which didn’t shut in the bathroom. It was spacious though. The main problem was in the dining room the service seemed very stretched. As a result long waits between courses spoilt the experience. Also the food wasn’t as good as other daishes hotels . Portions were small but more to the point the standard was poor. Typical example was the roast pork dinner it was very similar to a microwave ready meal. Pork was tasteless. Also trips were cancelled . The information given was poor and scarse. I have been on many daishes holidays and unfortunately this was the worst experience we have come across
