Rivelyn Hotel Bar & Restaurant

We went for an overnight stay just to spend some time in Scarborough as we hadn't been there for a while. We saw this hotel online and it looked nice and was not too expensive. We walked from the train station as it is only about 10 mins away and quite easy to find. They are doing some renovation work to outside and there is scaffolding around the building. We went in and it is very quaint and has a little old fashioned decor in the downstairs areas, but it is very clean and tidy. We were checked in by a lovely helpful lady. There is a lift which is can hold 2 people snugly, if your on the large side you will have to cuddle. I would say that a wheelchair user would not be able to get in. The room we had was at the end of a narrow corridor and was lovely, it looked like it has recently been decorated and was spotlessly clean, with an en suite shower and toilet. There was complimentary coffee,tea and milk and kettle. In the en suite was complimentary shampoo/showr gel and soap, with clean towels. The room was at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet, apart from the seagulls that were around which is normal. We ate out but you could have a meal if you ordered at the bar, which the lady said she would open early if we would like a drink. She also said we could have breakfast in the morning which could be paid for at the bar on arrival. Overall it was a very nice and pleasant stay. It is a bit outside the main shopping area, about 10 mins walk across the bridge and up a slightly steep incline and there is steps at the entrance so if you have trouble walking don't go there.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed. Whole place is disgustingly dirty, room has strong smell to mould. You can also hear doors slamming and everything from the other rooms until very late at night. They do not do housekeeping, even tho they advertise as they do, and when you request them to do it, they will just make up the bed (with dirty sheets) and replace the towels, don't bother to clean anything or even to swipe the toilet or hoover a bit the room, which is fully stained and looks completely disgusting. We found the gel and shampoo with the safe seal broken and hair around. When we complained about this, they try to scam us, we got told in return we'd have to pay extra for our pet, which they never mention during booking, check in, or the several nights we stayed there. Be aware of these people, this disgusting place, and save yourself a pain, stay elsewhere!

As expected Stayed for the purpose of a motor scooter rally. Food was good and staff were friendly. Some improvements were being carried out but we remained unaffected. Room was more than adequate for it's purpose. Not a particularly expensive stay and you get what you pay for.

Lovely place, would stay again!!

All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Its in a good position for the town and beach. Had a lovely cooked breakfast by Adele. Nothing is too much trouble. Will be staying again shortly.
