First the positives.
The room was very clean, comfortable and bathroom was obviously recently refurbished.
Breakfast was excellent and good value, but more on that later.
Now the not so good, or could do better!
The check in policy is ludicrous, I understand they need to have a designated check in time, but whilst waiting (40 minutes) I overheard the staff clearly stating that all rooms were ready for guests, but as people were entering the reception they were informed that check was not possible until 3pm and they had to wait or pay £10.00 for an early check in!
The result was a packed reception and when they did commence check in, due to a “new system “ it was painfully slow! Very poor customer service.
The breakfast was good value, but the attitude of the cashier guy was poor at best, probably rude if to be defined. On approaching him I was asked “ breakfast for two “ to which I replied “ no there’s only one” to which he snapped “ well I’m not to know that!”
Not expected and yes rude!

The hotel looks awful from outside and needs a good scrub. The check in was a QR code so no human interaction. The room was a typical premier inn room but very small for 2 adults and 2 kids. One of tge kids bed was extremely hard as no mattress so this made our first night eventful as my 9 year old struggled to sleep. The location is perfect! Right next to tge tramway so very close to seafront and shops. The brewer fayre stopped serving food at 7pm on the Sunday and because we had not booked we were turned away. We felt this was very early to close to food. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful choices. The second morning was an experience due to a family that were very loud, lots of children none of which were behaving well. The mother just got louder and louder telling them all off. Julie from the resturant never stopped that morning making sure things were full and fresh and trying to make the situation for others in the room better. We knew there was no parking on site and got really lucky that the car park opposite had a fault so only paid £12 for 3 days. Lovely basic trip away

Good value for money. Clean and comfortable. Good staff availability at check-in in the early hours of the morning. Very welcome after a long drive. Hotel is a rabbit warren as it is an old building, but well sign posted. Only drawback in NO PARKING ON SITE. I managed to squeeze into the last parking space in the road opposite (thank you useless driver who took up most of my space!!) but that could be an issue, although this was the free parking 18:00 - 09:00. I don't know what the multi-story parking availability and cost was like. As a side issue I recommend (from a previous visit) Askims restaurant 20 yards down the road. They are brilliant.

Excellent stay at Premier Inn South Bay Scarborough. Handy position near shops & cafes. There is a Brewers Fayre Restaurant onsite at the hotel which served an excellent meal-deal. Lovely bedroom with very comfy bed & tea & coffee facilities. Will definitely stay again.
