The Meltham Guesthouse Scarborough

Thank you so much for the wonderful night away in your lovely room. I am very grateful for all of Joe's help and kindness during our stay. Absolutely Brilliant!

Overall stay was pleasant and facilities were very clean. Just a few things which were not quite as we expected. We arrived Friday night to find the house completely locked up, with just a number to call. We rang 3-4 times over 15-20mins but no answer or call unable to connect. Thinking we needed to book elsewhere we went to leave, only then receiving a call with entry instructions. Room was clean and ready for us. With clear guidance on breakfast etc. however when we got to the room there was no breakfast. Confused we left and made our own arrangement's. Owner called us later in the day explaining we should have gone to a cafe Down or up the street, but this wasn’t clear on any signage. We also found the room quite cold, and heater wouldn’t come on, shower was also a dribble - impossible to wash long hair, and water temperature just about bearable cool luke warm. A shame as the location for us was perfect, other than that great weekend in scarborough. The idea of the concept for the arrangements are there but maybe better communication needed. Owner very friendly when we met him.

Had a lovely time …thankyou Joe for going above and beyond for myself and my daughter Lucy and grandaughter vaya. The rooms were just right for us…lovely place, lovely rooms and not far from the sea front. See you again soon will definitely return here. Lisa

Joe is so friendly and welcoming. Comfy and clean. Use of kitchen is handy and breakfast at North Bay Cafe was out of this world! Joe made sure my son had everything he needed to play pool and table tennis in the games room. What a great location and surprisingly quiet street too. Can’t wait to come back :)

After a slightly shaky start, as the road was being dug up to lay fibre optic cables and building work was taking place at the front door, we had a lovely stay at the Meltham. The double room was slightly old fashioned compared to some but very clean and comfortable. I had the best nights sleep ever! Breakfast was provided at a cafe up the road. Again, it was a bit surprising as it appeared to be a real greasy spoon but the cooked breakfast was delicious and served very quickly. The staff were lovely, as was Joe, the proprietor of the hotel. I would definitely stay at the Meltham again.

Great place to stay in Scarborough,room was very nice and clean,ideally located with a 5 mins walk to the beach. Lovely chip shop on same street and a very nice park and lake very close by, our host Joseph was super helpful, would definately recommend this place.
