The Ship inn is a busy but welcoming B&B. We stayed over a very busy weekend due to a festival nearby. Undertsandably therefore check in was slow but the staff were great and very friendly. We stayed in a good double room. I would say that the acccommodation was small and a bit cramped. Storage was very limited. The windows didn’t open properly and looked directly into the garden at the rear and the car park at the front so privacy was limited. The curtains did not block out light and so I was awake from the early hours. They would benefit from blackout blinds and decent opening windows to allow air to circulate in the room as it felt airless. As a result towels remained damp after use and couldn’t dry out. The bathroom was reasonable with a bath and overhead shower. Again privacy in the bathroom was limited given the window faced onto the car park. The cleaning staff were super helpful and came daily which was good given the damp towels. Breakfast was really good. We also ate dinner on our arrival to the ship which was good. Overall I would say The Ship was overpriced (even given it was a peak weekend in the region) but the staff were lovely and a few updates to the room would help.

50 minutes for a starter and then 45 minutes after for mains. Starters were very mean, for example 4 pieces of squid - a very cheap ingredient! Burata was nice but 1 tomato! Mains were good enough. So frustrating to have such slow service. 2 young girls were running around endlessly, whilst 2 ‘managers’ stayed behind the bar chatting and offering no help, even when they had no customers. We have been before and it was good enough. Maybe this was just a very bad night.

We ate at The Ship twice whilst staying in Dunwich for a short break. On both occasions the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. There was a varied menu. The food was delicious and piping hot. It was also reasonably priced. We wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

Fly invested restaurant in all eating areas! Basic food. Would definitely NOT recommend!! One family waited over an hour for their food, and then they got their order wrong.

Great pub, great food, best Sunday lunch ever. Lovely walk to beach. Only negative, our bedroom, which was lovely, was noisy as was situated above the kitchen and constant banging of doors. Would definitely stay there again, but a different room

The review is not great I’m afraid. We are not picky, nor are we prolific complainers . . . . but - the restaurant was so full and cramped that we asked to be moved to the bar area to eat - this was done quickly and easily. There was only one veggie option on the main menu which was not particularly appetising (a quarter of cauliflower rubbed with harissa on cous cous - my wife could not finish this), at breakfast there was no milk available that had not ‘turned’ so it was either black coffee or coffee with lumps floating in it, and the parched eggs had to be sent back as they were basically hard boiled ! All little things I know, but this is not a cheap night away, so I would expect much better. The room was nice and the staff were friendly if rushed.

Well presented cosy rooms. Excellent breakfast with lots of choices and locally sourced fresh produce. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Great place for local walks along the coast and nature reserves. Lots of fascinating history.
