The Lodge & Club at Ponte Vedra Beach

NO generator in a luxury hotel of this price point. It rains almost daily in this town and power goes out, so ONLY if you are alright with the power being off, no backup air conditioning in 95 degree weather, no ability to use electronics or Wi-Fi, then this is the hotel for you. Oh also there are leaks in the roof in many places, a very small pool by the beach, and I mean small, and the family pool is across the street, so inconvenient if you have children. Parking can be problematic. The hotel is overpriced for what you receive. Also they burned part of our breakfast. The manager was not professional when I asked him what kind of luxury hotel doesn’t have a generator, in fact he was rude. I think we will not be staying here again. Oh also a wedding was going on blocking our view completely, so there was that too…

We stayed for a few nights in June and really enjoyed our stay. However, this was a mixed bag in our opinion. Firstly the good; fantastic location, beautiful views and comfortable room. The housekeeping was fantastic, indeed all of the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The issues here were, in our opinion, at a higher level of management; the rooms were looking a little tired and dated and clearly had not had furniture or fixture replacements for quite some time; but the one which really jarred for us was the rather old fashioned attitude to dining in the restaurant, which was only allowed if you were wearing the right attire; ie no shorts in the restaurant. My husband was wearing smart chino style shorts which were deemed unacceptable which is a shame as he did look smart. We dined in the bar on our first evening and were shocked when the bill arrived. It was our one and only meal on site!!! Which leads me to the other thing which wasn't great, which was the lack of value for money. This place cost $800 per night, and this was only for the room -any food was extra, parking was extra, loungers, parasols etc for the beach were extra etc etc.....we didn't feel that this was good value and therefore we only walked on the beach and we dined elsewhere in the evenings. Our final bill for 4 nights was almost $4,000 - NOT great value for money.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. I have traveled the world, stayed at many Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton’s and this hotel is a genuine winner. The staff goes above and beyond. Some of the best service that I have seen anywhere. The accommodations are quite large and allow for a relaxing family trip. We are already planning our next stay.

Lived up to the hype Every bit of this felt like luxury. The accommodations, the service, the food, the atmosphere all put us in a place of total relaxation. Absolutely loved it here.

Great location and amazing service!

We chose this hotel based on reviews that highlighted how great it was for families, but unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience. With a 13- and 15-year-old, we felt like we had checked into an adults-only resort. They weren’t allowed in the nicer pool or the hot tub, and there wasn’t much for them to do, which was a huge letdown. The rooms were also a disappointment—not nearly as nice as the photos online, and for the price, we expected much better. Service wasn’t great either; no one even offered to help with our bags at check-in, which is pretty standard at the other resorts we’ve stayed at. It’s clear the hotel caters more to a senior crowd, so if you’re traveling with teens, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. The one bright spot was the food—it was delicious. But overall, the experience did not meet our expectations, and we wouldn’t return.
