Stayed here over the Veterans Day weekend in a two level loft suite (Room 411). Had some trouble getting into the suite and required some assistance from the front desk person. You have to keep turning the dead bolt after unlocking it to open the door; you don’t actually use the door handle. I found this a bit odd, but once I got used to this, it wasn’t an issue. The room itself was spacious. There were some nice antique furnishings and paintings. The carpet and sofa looked like they could use some restoration, but otherwise the room was clean and had some welcome modern amenities like a mini-fridge. There were two bathrooms, one downstairs with a toilet and sink and one full bathroom upstairs with toilet, sink and shower stall. There was a generous amount of closet and cabinet space on both levels. The king size bed was in the upstairs loft, and the mattress was a little soft for my taste but I adjusted to it. The location of the inn can’t be beat, located directly across the street from the Owens-Thomas House, one block from the Davenport House, and in between Columbia and Oglethorpe Squares. It’s also very close to Broughton Street, the historic district’s main shopping area. In fact, you’re within a 20 to 25 minute walk of just about any place you would want to visit within the historic district. I had a hard time deciding on a rating for this place. It’s maybe a little better than a four star rating but doesn’t quite merit five stars since some areas could use some renovation and it’s a little overpriced for what you get. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay overall and the location is great. I have no hesitation about recommending this property and would strongly consider staying here again.
