We stayed over a weekend, and the room was just ok - bent furniture, dark and dingy. I've definitely stayed in worse places, but the standards should be higher, given that The Cotton Sail is a Hilton property. First off, it's actually quite difficult to find the place, as our GPS took us along River Street to the back - there's not that much signage along Bay Street. If you go, set your GPS to the Five Guys restaurant across Bay Street to find the entrance, which is on the 4th floor. People working there were nice, but the lady at the front counter was never there (she was hanging out at a little cubby down the hall) and we sat at the rooftop bar for about 20 minutes before leaving due to no service whatsoever, but it was the breakfast that was the worst part. The "Diamond Level" was just a scoop of powdered eggs and a slice of toast. I've had better breakfasts at roadside motels. Our room, located on the 3rd floor (yes, below the lobby) had great views along River Street. The problem was the LOUD stereos blasting all night, until about 3AM. I was awakened by one particular car stereo on our second night that as so loud things on the nightstand rattled. I know that it's not the hotel's fault that Savannah apparently doesn't have a noise ordinance, but just keep that in mind before booking.

This was by far the worst Hilton that I have ever stayed at!!! The concept of turning an old building into a hotel is very cool. I’m sure when this hotel was first opened it was very nice. Now, it is a hole! The carpet in the hallways are filthy. We were sticking to the wood floors in our room. The entire hotel smelled. The furniture in our room hasn’t been cleaned in years. The furniture drawers didn’t close. The wood on the balcony was cracked. We didn’t dare stand on it. The evening staff was rude. Our room was on the 5th floor, right under the restaurant/bar. The noise was horrendous! The bar/restaurant closed at 11PM and the noise from above continued on past midnight.

We had a problem with our reservation in May 2025 at the hotel. There were 3 adults traveling to Savannah for a graduation. We received a text that was sent at 1:53pm stating they had to change our room from 2 Queens to 1 King. We did not receive the text until we checked into our room around 5:00pm since were driving from Central FL and were on the road for 5 hours. We were told there was an issue with the room and no other Queen room was available. The hotel reduced the rate by $200, but it doesn't seem like fair compensation since one of us had to sleep on the floor! The situation was not acceptable. We were advised since it was graduation weekend, no other rooms at all were available. We paid $500+ plus parking so $200 off the room rate was not fair compensation especially since 3 adults should not be expected to sleep in one King bed. There wasn’t even a sofa available in the room which would have made it more acceptable. The front desk personnel were very professional and understanding and location was great, hence the reason my review is 3 stars and not 1 star. I did write to the hotel manager that night and did receive a “so sorry” message 5 days later.I'm very disappointed in this facility especially as a Hilton Honors member.

We arrived 23.5.25 late afternoon to not the friendliest welcome we’ve ever had at a hotel. This hotel is not aligned to the usual Hiltons we’ve stayed at and didn’t feel part of the Hilton brand. Small room for the expensive cost (2nd highest priced Hilton in area), not as clean as usual Hiltons and breakfast food was absolutely awful although servers were really nice. Planned to dine in the restaurant but decided against it when we saw it. Looked like a cafe and the limited food options confirmed this. The location is great but there are other Hiltons nearby and we really wished we’d checked these out beforehand. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Great location. Walking distance to virtually everything. Neat historic building. Rooms are not huge, but adequate. Need a little TLC and could be a little cleaner. Great rooftop restaurant and bar overlooking the river. Good value at $200-300/night. Wouldn’t pay more than that.
