There is absolutely nothing not to love about this place. The owners, two friends who have a passion for hospitality and are extremely warm, welcoming and friendly, go out of their way to make your stay incredible. We stayed two nights to celebrate our anniversary. First, our room (room 1) was quite simply, amazing. It was very large, with a comfortable bed, big sitting area and a very large bathroom that had both a tub and a shower (hot water and very good water pressure in ample supply). Our room had a side porch, however it was a bit chilly for sitting out. I also want to mention that all the windows (of which there were 8 or 9!) have wonderful black out shades. And while the room was located on the front side of the house, nearest the road, you rarely heard any traffic noise. The common areas are welcoming, though we did not avail ourselves of the living room (since we had our own private sitting area in our room) nor the pool table room. As someone else mentioned, we too, were offered a lovely bottle of champagne for our celebration - it was a very nice touch! The rooms have small refrigerators and there is an ice machine on the landing - hot coffee, tea and hot chocolate are always available at the coffee station downstairs. So - breakfast - DO NOT MISS IT! The menu changed every day and each selection was a treat. The french toast consisted of two THICK slices of bread with both cinnamon and maple flavored butter. The omelets had smoked ham, aged VT cheddar cheese and one day, plump shrimp for a creole twist - all were excellent! And the breads the serve - homemade and so very good. And all was served with some of the best bacon I've ever tasted - Mike is a true genius in the kitchen! It's also nice to know that when other guests are staying there, even though the rooms open onto the hallway, you don't hear them. The building is very solid! The location was very convenient for us. While the racetrack wasn't open, they are directly next to the Racing Museum (they may even have passes - so be sure to ask). Getting to Caroline Street and Broadway was an easy 15 minute walk or Uber - and while there is parking downtown, Uber is so easy, especially if you want to go out at night. Having gone out both nights in town, we were very glad to be staying in this quieter area. I can't recommend this place enough. Call and speak to Cathy or Jo - both are super helpful and love assisting with plans, especially those for a special occasion.
