Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sarasota East - I-75

The room is very spacious

My husband and I recently stayed at Holiday Inn Express Sarasota East - I-75, 5730 Gantt Road . Sarasota, Florida 34233 . We were cheerfully welcomed by the two men on the front desk I was acknowledged as a priority and member and thanked. We went to our room. The decor was in fair condition, with a huge dent in the desk. Overall appearance of the room suggested to me it was time for a remodel and update. All night the couple next to us fought and sounded like they were destroying the room. At 4AM, we had enough and I went down to the front desk. There was no one there. I called the desk twice on my phone and their phone just kept ringing. I waited 30 minutes and looked everywhere for someone and still no one. The hotel was sold out, thus a breakfast time it was busy. The breakfast area was very small and guests were overflowing to the lobby. I know it was busy, only had one breakfast attendant and it was hard to keep up, thus items stayed empty. To top it off the pancake machine was broken. I addressed my concerns with the front desk that morning. I was given $20.00 off my bill and some additional points. Overall that morning, not properly staffed for the business. We ended up with no breakfast and not a great feeling about this property. We will not return to this property on our next visit to Sarasota. I've been a priority member for over 20 years and I think the IHG brand is really going down. Perhaps it time to look at another brand for our hotel stays.

No one was at the front desk upon arrival for check in. Had to wait a few minutes. Upon exiting the elevator, we picked up a musty air quality in the hall. Our room also smelled musty. The sprinklers in the room were very noticeable rusty. The bathroom was not cleaned. The entire shower inside and outside was despicably grimy, filthy. The shower curtain was also dirty. The bathroom tiles were dirty. The bathroom walls were dirty. The room truly needs work. They need to improve their housekeeping services and hotel’s air quality. Spring break room price was steep at a sum of over $200 for the conditions of the room and hotel. Breakfast was okay. Wouldn’t recommend or stay there again. First Holiday Express I’ve stayed in terrible conditions. We felt uncomfortable and disgusted.

if you love being woken at 5AM to the melodic sounds of truck reverse warning systems delivering to the Circle K steps away or at 7:30 Am to the glorious roar of leaf blowers then you found your nirvana. if you enjoy your room door misaligned so badly that when you close it it literally takes wood shavings out of the door or the security latch so loose it really is of no use but i guess that's where the added security of the misaligned door and its difficulty open/closing comes into play. If you enjoy housekeeping totally ignoring the DO NOT DISTURB placard and entering your room anyway and then leaving the placard on the floor after they leave then this is your GOTO or the front desk staff not really caring about it then this is your paradise. on a positive note the free breakfast was fine with decent options not just a continental breakfast.
