I recently stayed at the Kimpton Las Mercedes in Zona Colonial with a group, and after reading positive reviews, we were excited for our stay. However, we encountered several issues that significantly impacted our experience. While the hotel itself is beautiful, the service was disappointing. One major issue we faced was the language barrier. Aside from the general and assistant managers, no other staff spoke English, which made communication extremely challenging. I would expect a hotel with the Kimpton brand to employ English-speaking staff. This is one of the reasons we selected this hotel over the others in the area. The most concerning problem, however, was with hotel security. On two separate occasions, staff entered our rooms without permission—despite the "Do Not Disturb" signs being clearly displayed. When I addressed this with Assistant Manager Barbara, she offered only excuses for the staff's actions, defending their behavior rather than acknowledging that it was unacceptable. There is simply no reason for staff to enter guest rooms uninvited, particularly when a "Do Not Disturb" sign is in place. Given the issues with both security and service, I cannot recommend this hotel if safety and reliable service are a priority for you. I hope the management will take these concerns seriously to improve future guests' experiences.
