Popular Santiago 4-star Hotels

We came here, unplanned, as our nearby hotel claimed to have a/c but it was a centrally controlled system set to hot in mid May in Portugal! Our priority was thus effective a/c and comfort. These were abundant in this modern recently and expensively refurbished hotel in an old factory on the outskirts of town. The distance was only a few minutes by car, and was very quiet and peaceful. The only downside was a flight of 8 steps between the ground and lower ground floors to carry luggage down! We were helped by another guest on arrival with our cases. This lack of forethought seemed at odds with the rest of the thoughtful provision. The breakfast buffet was interesting and ample. There was an restaurant in a nearby enormous building and space, with good food and attentive service x and very few customers when we were there.

A small boutique hotel right in the middle of town with many rooms facing the river. Rooms are a tad small but it’s an awesome hotel. Check in was smooth, staff are very helpful and very good rates inclusive of a fairly widespread breakfast. Of course no raw vegetables in the breakfast but hot scrambled or fried eggs on demand. Very serene and quiet in the room and the plus point is the nice little balconies facing the river and the rural setting of the town. No restaurant in the hotel but plenty of restaurants within 2-6 mins of walk. Overall a lovely experience

Fomos do Norte passar uns dias à Casa das Cegonhas e a estadia foi soberba. A D. Marta foi excelente connosco, e proporcionou sempre o bem estar de todos os hóspedes. O pequeno almoço contava com bolo caseiro, fruta fresca, pão..uma maravilha! Aconselho muito este alojamento a quem quiser passar uns dias longe da agitação, pois ali apenas se ouvem animais e o vento nos sobreiros, e o espaço é lindíssimo. Era tudo o que queríamos, passar um fim de semana envolvidos pela natureza. Com certeza iremos voltar!!
