The Lodge 30A

No sleep, whatsoever doors banging at all hours of the night early morning. Probably one of the worst experiences I have had in my life. The equivalent of a Holiday Inn. They only clean your rooms every three days along with checkout is at 10 AM. All for 400$ a night

Basically a brand new hotel, fantastic staff, you can’t beat the price for 30A, close to public beach access, lots of shops and restaurants right at the hotel and the pool area was a nice perk! It’s the best of both worlds if you dont want to rent a house, you can explore all Of 30A and there is plenty of parking at the hotel!! They offer a pass to a local beach club, it is a bit pricey, but includes transport and chairs, etc. The hotel is pet friendly, the main reason we booked! The fitness center and walking trails are all right there!! We will definitely stay again! I forgot to add the rooms have a nice sized refrigerator, sink, plate ware and cutlery.

The Good: The lobby is decorated very nicely. Check in was easy and agent was friendly. We were given a room by the ice machine and I asked for another room. Unfortunately the only other option was by the elevator. More people use the elevator than get ice, so we didn't change. Surprisingly, we never heard the ice machine. The rooms are spacious and furnished nicely. Parking was never an issue. Location is great. The pool looked nice/clean, but we didn't use. The Bad: The rooms are only cleaned every 3 days. This is a major inconvenience for getting towels. (If you are going to only service the rooms every 3 days, you need to provide more towels and a plan for the wet/used towels). We asked an employee that was in the hall with a towel cart for towels and he did a google translation on his phone to tell us he had stopped by earlier and we didn't want any so we could not have any and he would be by in the morning. We had been at the beach all day. We stopped at the front desk, stood in line and got more towels. The walls are thin, the dishwashers are very noisy. The shower is poorly designed. It is not possible to turn the water on and adjust the temperature without getting wet. You must fully step in to reach the handles. The Beach Club was not available because of black-out dates.

This trip was booked ~4hrs in advance. I called ahead and booked through one of my travel apps. I had another booking Sun-Thur on the 22nd (working), so I decided to try this hotel out a couple weeks in advance this last Sunday for 4 days. I pre-paid both trips. When Checking in the Front desk asked to swipe my card. I let her know that my bank is particular about using chip reader and swipe does not always work. She appeared put out...entered my card wrong (wrong expiration) and was refused checkin. I let her know she had done something wrong..even went accross street to buy something as it was quicker than calling my bank. She denied me checkin nor tried running card again without her typo. She made a scene...talked in earshot....laughed. I got on phone with ******* to avoid penalty for canceling and was in the lobby on hold...it was apparent she does not like ppl that look like me and I did not have someone there to protect me. While on hold and not engaging she charged at me and asked me to leave. I got kicked out. I asked her not to touch me and to stay away as she kept comming at me. I was on the phone in the lobby on hold. She laughed as she followed me out. scary and horrific. I was profiled without a doubt. They would rather loose the business than have someone that does not look like them. I cried in the car...i am horrified how I was treated. She has no clue I own a business, accomplished with many years of advanced education, work with well known companies and AM A LOCAL!!! I have been upset all week. I have traveled substantially in the last 5 years and am horrified. If you book here, please stay safe! I am not sure how to avoid abuse like this or what I ever could have done different. I do know that it is good I did not stay there and booked elsewhere (Hyatt-Sandestin) right after. I am safe. I pray ppl like me do not book here, no one deserves to be treated like this EVER. My bank confirmed ~1.5hrs after that the expiration she entered was wrong and expired not the actual year on the card. I realize that her refusing to re-enter my card, make a display in front of housekeeping and customers, ridicule, come in my space ... I think she wanted a reaction. She did not get that. She had made up her mind about me when I entered the door.
