Hotel Polamar

Great location for the hotel as right on the beach and easy access to all areas to visit. The hotel is clean but very dated although I believe they are working on that. The breakfast was substantial, enough of a choice and very relaxed. Two points of disappointment were no beach beds (even to hire) and no courtesy room to use after checking out and before a later flight home. The chill out bar was lovely though as was the bar on Floor 5, with great views and plenty of comfy seats.

Positives. - I did have a great holiday in places I saw and experienced in the area but I would not go back to this hotel again. I liked it being right on the beach, i thought the cleaning of the rooms were very good, could have it everyday if wanted - they were amazing and always said hello. Negatatives - Firstly, even though breakfast was included it was very basic. The juices were absolutely horrible, u would have to taste them to understand, particularly the so called orange juice. I did not find the staff very friendly but it wasn’t that that spoiled the experience. On the door there is a strict policy that no food or drink can be bought into hotel. Even if purchased in bar there. If for instance you wanted to take an apple to your room we were informed there was a 20 euro fine to take food out of restaurant, you cannot take to your room, Btw this includes a bottle of water. I was stopped on coming into hotel and questioned on my water bottle. It was 30 degrees outside and I take tablets each day - I told them in no uncertain terms my thoughts - they didn’t ask again. We also found out that the drinks at bar were increased substantially - they informed us “it was to keep the riff raff out. So a beer was 6 euros, better to go to a bar outside3.50 euros. I really did not feel at home / relaxed in this hotel. It seems very strict in a controlling mannerism. It was only the last day before leaving there was a receptionist that spoke really good English and was very helpful. I felt the people staying there came second to other stuff going on. One day there was a wedding and it took most of the outside and all the dining room. To get to beach you had to walk around the side, the side gate was also locked. There is a lovely sitting area in the shade but you couldn’t use any of it, just a few tables in front of the bar - this was from just after breakfast to very late evening. I have stayed in a few places and I always felt welcome that you were a priority. The food and drink issue was the main let down really. I know that initially your room is to sleep and shower in. A few perks like a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities so u could at least make a tea or coffee would have been great - unable to hire any kettle either. - no drinks of any kind are allowed in your room.

Birthday weekend Beautiful location. Lovely staff. Breakfast adequate. Beautiful bars. Bar beer expensive €6. You expect extra, paying for the view, but not so much. Waiter said all Spain, but we live up the coast!!!

Decent hotel, brilliant location right on the beach. We chose the hotel due to its proximity to the site of the big firework display at the end of May and our room had a great view.
