Save your time, money, and energy—don’t go there. My entire stay was horrible. I arrived, and it took the staff some time to bring me to my room. The rooms looked nothing like the advertisements—everything was dirty, broken, and old. There was no decoration, and the “air conditioning” was just an old standing fan that made more noise than it produced cold air. The room lacked any basic amenities: no pictures, furniture, minibar, safe, water, or anything else—just the bed. A rusty nail was sticking out of the floor right next to the bed. Fortunately, it only damaged my suitcase and not my feet. The room’s door had holes, the windows were broken, and the bathroom was disgusting with no warm water. The walls were paper-thin, and the room was right next to a highway. It felt like every car passing by was about to crash into me. The ocean was incredibly loud as well—I could hear every wave like a tsunami in my ears. Unsurprisingly, I couldn’t sleep a single minute in my 30-degree hobbit hut (and the same applied to the rooms of my family members). Another major issue was the service and the restaurant—they clearly have no idea how to run a hotel. I arrived at 6:30 PM, and after finally getting my room, I went to dinner with my family. The hotel has only one restaurant, and leaving to find alternatives is difficult since it’s in the middle of nowhere. The menu looked somewhat promising, and we were all hungry. However, the staff first told us that the kitchen was already closed (it was 8 PM by then). We reminded them that the receptionist had promised us food earlier, so they reluctantly agreed to prepare something. We were offered three options: fish, chicken, and scampi. After a few minutes, the waiter returned and told us they could only cook chicken because they had run out of everything else. What a joke! The next morning was no better. We arrived for breakfast at 7:30 AM and found we couldn’t order from the menu. Instead, we were only offered bread because they apparently didn’t have anything else. After we received the bread, we saw another table—who had arrived after us—being served eggs and a full breakfast. When we complained, the staff’s only excuse was that the chef had “found some more eggs in the kitchen.” I honestly don’t know whether they treated us poorly on purpose, were simply incompetent, or just didn’t care. We didn’t get to experience the beach (which actually looked somewhat promising) or the small, dirty pool (which looked completely different from the advertisements), because we decided to leave after the first night. Staying longer was unbearable, even though we had originally booked for more nights. Do yourself a favor and avoid this expensive hole. Burning your money would be a far better use of it—at least you wouldn’t have to suffer.

This hotel lacks love. You can just see, hear and taste it in everything. We have stayed in many hotels, some very luxurious, some very modest and you can just tell if people put they heart into it. In this hotel, they don’t. The first pictures that you see on TripAdvisor posted by management are probably already 10 years old. Since then, the hotel aged a lot and a lot of the color has gone. The location on the beach is great, but as someone else commented, the waves break with a lot of force, so during high tide, it really feels that you’re about to be swallowed by the water. The food is not good. We have had excellent meals in Colombia, but we decided to eat out after the first day. It’s just not tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed drinking fresh fruit juices in Colombia, but here the mango juice, the lemonade, the maracuja juice all taste like dishwasher liquid. The water in the hotel is non-potable, so you would expect to get 1-2 bottles of drinking water in your room. Not here, unfortunately. You can buy drinking water though. The hotel rebranded themselves as Sublime Eco Lodge, but there is very little that is eco, except the shower which is basically a tube with cold water and the rooms that only have fans, no airco. The shampoo, soap, etc. all comes in little disposable bottles. For juice at breakfast, only disposable cups are offered. The two floors of the hut are separate rooms, so if you’re unlucky and have noisy upstairs or downstairs neighbors, you will hear everything. In general, the hotel did not seem to care a lot about tranquility when we were there. They played music on a speaker so loud that it was barely possible to speak to each other. In short: Beautiful place on the beach, but it has not gotten the love it deserves for a long time.
