Lugar precioso e ideal para alojarse y sentirse como en casa. Ubicación inmejorable con vistas espectaculares. Habitación impecable y desayuno casero muy bueno. Tanto Joaquín como su mujer pendientes de que estemos lo más a gusto posible y no nos falte de nada.

The view is breathtaking, the bed comfortable and excellent pillows, the best on our trip so far. Your hosts could not be more helpful. We arrived on cycles which they were happy to accommodate. Breakfast was fresh with lovely orange juice and freshly cooked local eggs. This village is amazing.The castle needs to be fully explored.

Só tenho coisas boas a dizer desta estadia,os anfitriões Sr Joaquim e a esposa são de uma simpatia gigante,fizeram-me sentir como se estivesse em casa.O quarto era muito bom,o pequeno almoço excelente e de qualidade.Claro que a vista do local completou o que já era perfeito. I called to make a reservation for two couples, each with their own Odyssey voucher, but they said from the house that they only accept one voucher, either the Odyssey partnership is poorly designed or it's a scam. If they accept Odyssey vouchers, what's the difference? ? the reservation is made and then there is either payment or delivery of the voucher.

This was our second visit here.The Casa is a traditional Portuguese style home.The owners are very welcoming and friendly-they cannot do too much for you.The rooms are clean,the beds comfortable and the bathrooms have plenty of hot water.Breakfasts are enormous and the scrambled eggs fantastic.Will definitely return.

Lovely old hilltop house with really friendly and helpful owners, although they don’t speak much English so conversing is tricky! Beautifully looked after and clean with a large lounge area which you can use to relax and a terrace overlooking the valley, what a view! We received a welcome glass of port and the breakfast was substantial and delicious. Parking is outside the house and requires nerves of steel to navigate the narrow cobbled lanes around the inside of the walls to the top! It’s very near the castle which is well worth exploring and has nice gardens for a picnic. You can explore the whole town on foot and a day is more than enough so if you stay 2 nights you have time to relax. There are a few restaurants and cafes in the area but some of them get booked up so it’s worth reserving. Marvao is not as much off the beaten track as the guide books would have you believe. My only gripes are that (1) the house is quite echoey inside and people coming in late can disturb the whole building, and I could hear the man next door snoring quite clearly which is a shame because it’s otherwise so peaceful here at night and (2) the lighting is quite dim, not good for older eyes reading.
