Santa Maria Hotels with Gym

We loved the funana .like most of us we read reveiws thought o my god . We arrived fast on reception check in was good freindly . Showed us map to our room .our room was nice had bigest shower probably get 6 people in .room was 8038 . Very clean checked beds under neath spotless . Pool bar was nice always cleaning moping the tiles . Bingo was ace with suzana she was the best always made us laugh. Loby bar was poor on service if your not dutch they wont serve you . We tipped second day tthings changed big time all the staff was talking to us .before there heads was down did not look at us lol . Being here for 2 weeks staff got better with me my husband . Food was amazing breakfast buffett everything you wich for .restaurants great our best best was mandaly we booked so many times because it was good. Steak house went once eat our mains before we got served wine . Beach beautifull beach bar was nice only did lager and post mix drinks which was good not a problem with that . Dont think the cups being washed probably as i seen with my own eyes on the beach bar . We was never sick all 2 weeks we stayed here . Did catamaran with roberto tours on front beach . Dont book with tui . Would we go back yes 👍

The best hotel in the whole island of Sal, except for Riu, is Hilton. Unfortunately, there is no Riu at the time of booking, but Hilton is very new, the decoration is very beautiful, and the facilities in the room are very modern. The hotel swimming pool is very large, the beach is outside, the greening is very good, the photo is beautiful, but the room is a little far from the beach, only half of the sea view room.

Just had 14 nights at this amazing hotel . From the lovely friendly staff who always had a smile to some amazing food .The choice was outstanding best Riu hotel out of several that we have stayed in . The weather was beautiful the whole time we were there even though it was very windy . It was also spotlessly clean everywhere. The cleaners work so hard to keep everything looking lovely . Thank you to Janisse who looked after us at breakfast .The only negative for us were the sun beds so low and uncomfortable.Providing a mattress would make a big difference.Overall had an amazing holiday and would definitely recommend this hotel .

RUI Cabo Verde hotel/ Sal/ Santa Maria. This review is that of my wife and I. They are our views only and appreciate everyone has different tastes and standards and opinions. I would like to say though that we generally have a high standard and expect quality when we’ve spent our hard earned money to buy things or visit places that are labelled into different classes if that makes sense. Therefore this is our honest thoughts. The Hotel was fabulous, no issues with the room size as described, cleanliness or decor. It was cared for daily, new towels every day, someone would make the bed daily and change the sheets when this was needed. Any drinks used from the fridge would also be replaced daily. There was never any shortage of water as others have previously mentioned. The reception is spacious with a good quality feel to it and plenty of seating. Reception is 24hrs, there is a little boutique shop and a coffee and patisserie section from 10:30am daily. There is one bar within the reception and staff are quick to serve and are friendly too. The grounds are spacious and well cared for. There are several roaming cats that weren’t to my liking yet they didn’t seem to bother you much. Poolside was good, although January was a busy period and all sunbeds were reserved early morning with towels and bags (even though it says not to). Some people literally had the same bed every day! They must have been up really early for that commitment. I found it frustrating and someone needs to get a grip of it and manage this. Some of the cushions on the beds were dirty as previously reported, yet lots were also clean or new. You could however get fresh towels as often as you wanted for the pool and beach. If there were no beds we walked the short five minutes to the beach where there were many spare beds. Getting to the beach was tricky, I say this as you had to endure/run the gauntlet of getting past the salesmen wanting to sell you trips. It could be annoying, especially when one of them said out loud “don’t you want to support local people?” I bit my tongue and carried on, I had plenty to say believe me...but didnt want the hassle. We would try and walk around the back of this walkway to stay out of their way! The beach was lovely golden sand, sunbeds weren’t as clean as poolside yet again we put fresh towels over them. The sea was rough the majority of the time with big waves and the red flags were displayed to inform you of the dangers. Even standing at the edge you could feel the strength of the tide pulling you back in so be very careful as we saw many people struggling to get back out of the sea and near exhaustion. It was also pretty windy. There were plenty of options for water sports on the beach and there was a beach bar open till 6pm serving all inclusive beer, water and fruit juices for RUI guests yet nothing else which was disappointing. Spent a week here with my mum and my 4 year old son in the Easter holidays. We booked to stay in the Sol Dunas but think we were staying in the Melia Dunas part. Its impossible to tell where one hotel ends and the other begins, it just feels like one big resort Top tip: soon as you arrive find out how to book your evening a la carte restaurants (when we were here you had to go to Odessy piano bar (inside) from 10.30am). They get booked up quickly. We only dinned in Atlantis and Sahel and both were great Childrens entertainment was excellent. Lollo and Bernie (plus Astrid and the other kids club staff) really made our holiday. My son loved them. The 5.30pm mini disco was a huge hit. I understand this (Lollo and Bernie program of events) has now all finished for the season although the hotel also had kids club facilities. Food and drink. ”Spices” is the buffet restaurant and ”Mosiac” (they are in the same building) is the part open for snacks outside of main meal times . We enjoyed the food. Ate salads all week and some of the meat. Did feel a bit samey at times but we could always find something to eat. You can also have lunch at Aqua which is pizza and pasta and is table service. So nice to mix it up and go there. The a la carte restaurants for evening meals also help provide variety. Coffee is best ordered at the bars, it doesnt taste nice out of the machine in Spices. We were also happy with the selection of drinks served in the various pool/beach bars Kids splash pool was another big hit and we spent almost all of our time here. There are some building works happening next to it but they do not disturb you Our room was large and clean. The houskeeping staff did a great job. Only issues (we did not raise this with the hotel at the time so they ve had no opportunity to address this and it didnt really bother us that much) the safe was temperamental it would lock but then sometimes wouldnt open! The plug in our bathroom sink was also a bit problematic, it would get stuck. If u were not careful the shower also flooded the bathroom. Had to be very careful to angle it away from the shower screen (that had a gap at the bottom). Overall we loved our holiday here and we are already discussing booking for next year (as long as Lollo and Bernie are there!!!) Biggest bit of feedback to the hotel would be: you need to make it easier to find out some of the information on restaurants, meal times, events, etc. The QR codes didnt really give enough. A sheet in the room or information pack would be helpful Thanks for a great holiday!

After a long flight we arrived to find our room was not ready, we had to wait 3 hours which is really unacceptable as they knew what time we were arriving. Other than that we had a fabulous holiday. Room was clean, bed comfy. Clean towels every day. Pool area was clean, pool bar had plenty of food and drinks available from morning till 8pm. Restaurant had a good variety of food available. I would recommend this hotel and even though it was a bit far from the beach and town I would visit again.
