We have always loved staying at Vanessie, but have noticed that it has steadily fallen into disrepair. I tried to speak to management about this, with no response. The room was initially clean, but we had tons of ants in the bathroom, which ended up in our luggage. It was disgusting. That's an easily remedied problem if traps are used, but there was no evidence of dealing with it. Ants were outside our room in the private courtyard, which used to be so nice to have. Now the courtyards have overgrown vegetation, roaches and ants, the once calming and beautiful fountains have not been maintained and are full of debris. It's sad to see it decline like it has. The room rates are lower, probably because of the lack of amenities. So I don't understand being charged a resort fee when the state of the property is poor, the restaurant is not high-end, the "breakfast" is processed snack-ish food, there are pervasive ants, and no management available on the property to deal with problems. It's truly disappointing.

We booked this hotel last minute as we didn't have reservations when we arrived in Santa Fe. The front desk agent was nice and attentive. The property itself is very old but well kept. It's on a busy street with a lot of foot traffic and I would say that some of the rooms facing the parking lot probably don't feel as safe. There is no security. The piano bar is really nice but it is closed. The breakfast bar was a nice surprise. The man taking care of breakfast was great. And lastly, its in a great location. We easily walked to the Plaza and did sight seeing and didn't use our car. Overall it was a good stay.

What a lovely hotel with very accommodating staff. The room was very Santa Fe "ish" Very comfortable, clean and felt very safe. Within easy walking distance to "old town" and the Loretto Chapel which was my reason for visiting. Just enough off the beaten path to avoid much traffic noise.

We celebrated our anniversary with a stay at this beautiful Inn that is hundreds of years old. Gorgeous authentic adobe structure that is well maintained and appointed with beautiful Spanish colonial and native furnishings with some modern Santa Fe artwork thrown in. The staff were very nice and helpful, the location was excellent and allowed us to walk to many of Santa Fe's attractions in under 10 minutes. The hot breakfast was basic which was disappointing because this hotel used to have a well regarded restaurant in it that is now closed. Dining tables were not balanced. AC in the room could not keep up with the desert heat and the beds were basic and uncomfortable. Investing in good mattresses and better AC units would go a long way towards making this a five-star experience.

Nicely decorated suite with kiva fireplace and private outdoor courtyard. Hotel is old and baths need much better maintenance. Replace tile grout, shower head way too low for anyone 6 feet or more. Biggest plus was the very gracious and helpful onsite manager. Biggest problem was the toilet did not flush and when used the toilet in the dining area, the women's worked fine but the men's toilet did not flush.

We were very surprised by the room amenities. The breakfast was good a large selection. Will definitely stay here again. Very close to the plaza. Most things look like they are walkable. We were there just 1 night. Will come back and say so I can explore Santa Fe.

Some renovations were being done but overall it was an excellent stay. Property staff were high tier, from the reception to the housekeepers. Owner should be proud of the team he has.
I’m part of a Hotel Association I notice everything.

Very poor hospitality
When checking in, no one, not the front desk woman or the manager ever acknowledge us. We stood there for over 15 min looking at the manager working in his computer ignoring me 5 feet away. I finally said hello and asked for help. The same manager, male African American, didn’t say hello until the second time and acted like I was bothering him. He ignored me until a woman arrived and gave me a very cold greeting. Nobody ever smiled once the entire checkin.
The 30$ a day “historical fee” was not great. No one said anything about that.
Breakfast wasn’t decent. I’m just glad the guy working was finally nice.
Room was nice.

An excellent smaller hotel in Santa Fe with easy walking to Lensic Center and many of the museums and the plaza. Constructed in a vintage building it isn’t as posh (or expensive) as a great many other hotels, but the beds are comfortable, the rooms (there is quite a variety of them and all different) are well appointed, the breakfast is excellent, and the staff friendly and professional. It has adequate parking for all the rooms, and it is tucked in off the main roads so it is quiet as well. We stay here when we come down from Taos for performances. Highly recommended.
