A shower is not simply a shower for me. A shower is a way of acclimating myself to the lucidity required to engage in everyday life. It is a way to mentally and physically prepare myself for whatever may lie ahead for me for the day. It's a routine that borders on a spiritual ritual to allow myself to function in the world at my maximum potential. I am not exaggerating, then, when I say my shower at The Inn and Spa at Loretto was one of the most uncomfortable experiences in my life. I awoke early in the morning in eager anticipation to enjoy everything Santa Fe has to offer, and as I watched the sun rise over the Sangre de Christo Mountains, marveling at the beauty of the New Mexico sunrise. All that was left for me was to take my shower and prepare for the day. Nothing could have prepared me for what happened next. I stepped into the bathroom and made my way over to the shower, and turned the knob as I always would to roughly halfway to initiate the process. As I anxiously waited to begin my shower routine, the bathroom quickly filled with steam. After the cool morning air this felt nice at first, but of course I didn't want to scald myself! I turned the faucet back towards the cool side as I stepped into the shower, expecting that I understood where I would reach a "warm" temperature. Within seconds I was blasted with ice cold water as if straight from a glacier. Pain shot up my spine to my neck as the icy water rained upon me, and I reflexively turned the knob back towards the hot side, thinking I surely had found the "happy medium". Within moments I was engulfed in red hot water that felt as if it had just been boiled in a tea pot across my face and neck, stunning me yet again. Frustrated, I moved the shower head directly to the floor, spraying my feet with the same steaming water. I then carefully moved the faucet, one centimeter at a time towards the cold side, gauging the point at which the water would begin to cool. Amazingly, there was no change. After 10 or so careful movements of the knob, the water began to cool, to my great relief. However, within moments the ice cold water returned, once again sending shivers up my spine. After more experimentation and constant discomfort, it became clear that there were only two options for this shower: burning hot or ice cold. The rest of my shower was spent doing a horrible dance of moving between excessively hot and cold water, moving my body out of the water frequently to minimize the pain. I ultimately managed to do the bare minimum necessary to get myself clean, with the chance of a relaxing and revitalizing experience clearly being out of the question. This is not how I would want anyone to start their day, and I feel this should be unacceptable for a hotel with the stature and reputation of The Inn and Spa at Loretto. While the rest of my experience there was quite nice, this shower left me with an awful feeling for much of my day. I hope they are able to ensure that future guests do not have to go through an experience like this.

We had last stayed at the hotel in 2019 and we were looking forward to returning for a special weekend in Santa Fe. Unfortunately the experience this time was totally disappointing. From the front desk to the worn out furniture, carpet and walls in our room. Not surprisingly there was nothing they offered to do to address our concerns. A true decline in their quality of the accommodations and services. We will not be choosing them again.

This was our second visit after ten years we were drawn to hotel due to its terrific location and our memories of the last trip. The hotel is classic Santa Fe with historical roots. Luminaria is the restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The hotel is very clean, but worn and needs updating. The rooms can be dark. Though everything did not go well on this visit, the management and staff made it amazing. Thus the 5 Stars. Our dinner at Luminaria did not begin well — short staffed, our food lost its way. That was quickly remedied and the dishes we ordered were wonderful. Leadership from the kitchen visited our table and adjustments were kindly made. Our room was not what we had hoped for and when a frequent car alarm disrupted our sleep, the management next day had been fully briefed on our issue, visited us at our breakfast table and offered to move us to an upgraded location. “Pack up and I’ll move you myself,” Isaiah offered. We were called before noon to say the suite was ready and our belongings were in the room. The room was beautiful with outdoor seating and a lovely view. Sadly, we had to leave the next day. We thanked everyone for their teamwork and superb service. At our next stop, we noticed we were missing a bag. Called the hotel, Genelle found it for us. FedEx will be bringing it home. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. It was the people who worked there that made it memorable by their kindness. Thank you!

This was not a good hotel. I am surprised by the many positive reviews to be honest. It is a great location and the pool area and exterior is beautiful. I don't have much nice to say otherwise. We had a "junior suite" which was just a normal hotel room with a small sitting area. There were two balconies, which was nice. However, there was no mini-kitchen or bathtub. No microwave. Room was dark and dated. Inside the dark stone shower, you can visible see black growth of some form of mold. As well as mold coming out of the air vent over the bed. On the left side of the bed where the carpet meets the baseboard, there is also some form of furry life-form protruding from the carpet. My friend was coughing and sneezing *only in the room*. Outside he was fine. The restaurant was just "meh." Steak was overcooked. The spa was fine, but overpriced. Pool area was great, but it was difficult to flag down a pool waiter for drinks or food. One of the waiters suddenly announced he was going home because he didn't feel well. Other waiters seemed rushed or would just ignore you. Offering food and beverage delivery at the pool is a wonderful business model, but it is not currently being executed as it should. Often there was no one there, and when they were, they seemed like they did not want to be there. For the most part, the people at the front desk, the valet guys, etc. were great and very helpful. The only issue was when I called the hotel reservation desk before arriving to make sure that there was a pull-out bed. The lady on the reservation line confirmed that there were was a pull out bed available. However, when we arrived we were told this is not an option. Seemed like a general lack of knowledge regarding what is and is not available in each of the rooms. Overall, would recommend looking elsewhere for a different and better hotel in Santa Fe,

Colleen was my therapist for my session and she was fantastic. Her energy is so calming and kind that it resonates throughout the entire experience. My massage was perfect and so relaxing. She works your muscles without immense amounts of pressure and pain. I would definitely return to her and the spa if I’m back in the area.

Truly beautiful hotel. Great location, friendly service and cozy and welcoming premises with lots of shops within a hotel and a beautiful pool. Did not eat in the restaurant but looked beautiful! We got free coffee vouchers for every night we stayed Would definitely stay there again.
