Maya Mountain Lodge

Very cute lodge made out of little cabanas in the woods. They have a great team that takes care of your needs. We booked all our activities through them and they handled it perfectly, Cesar helped us planned some activity before hand via WhatsApp (very usefull in Belize). The cabanas have A/C. There is a nice path in the jungle to observe and listen to birds.

The staff made us feel like we were staying with family friends, always concerned that our needs were taken care of and going out of the way to make sure we felt special. We loved the variety and authenticity of the local food used in our meals. There was an educational element to our stay. Perfect for our family of 6.

Mayan Mt. Lodge was a peaceful place to begin our time in Belize. Our clean, comfortable little bungalow came with its own private patio, just big enough for a hammock and picnic table, a perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee surrounded by birdsong. There was also a well-stocked, screened-in kitchenette, and all the filtered water we could drink. We really appreciated that considering the plastic pollution crisis, instead of small plasatic bottles being handed out there was a large container to refill from. Our bed was comfortable, the shower & wifi strong, and we were grateful for how well the AC worked. We made ice with filtered water, froze fruit from the marketplace, and used the bungalow’s blender to make icy-drinks to enjoy. The pool is surrounded by flowering trees full of bird-life and we even spotted a toucan snacking on palm fruit above us. We loved the open-air setting for the little restaurant and had several nice meals there, as did a family of hummingbirds! The Lodge is located about a ½ hr easy walk from town, which we did once or twice a day, and we did not find it necessary to have a car. The beautiful Cahal Pech Mayan ruins are within walking distance from town and Xunantunich ruins a short bus ride away. We very much appreciated the help we received from the lodge arranging a ride for us back to Belize City’s ferry terminal. Our driver, Miguel, was very safe, willing to answer our many questions about life in Belize, and made us feel like we were on a private tour. A big thank you to him and to the hardworking Manager, Levi, and his team, particularly Cesar and Carina, for making our time at Mayan Mt Lodge so enjoyable! We would definitely stay here again and are recommending this lovely spot to our friends & family.

You stay in your own cabin with an attached kitchen. The grounds are expansive and there is a trail you can take. They offer tours which are very informative. You are really immersed into nature and surrounded by all sorts of flora and fauna. The restaurant serves amazing food and you will need to make a reservation. There is parking and you are walking distance to SAN Ignacio and ruins. The staff was welcoming and very friendly. We had a great experience.
