Albatroz Beach & Yacht Club

The hotel fails to meet its advertised 5-star standard. Facilities are rundown, rooms are small and outdated. The hotel is at the end of the runway next to the motorway. The food was mediocre, I got a refund and left. I Booked this hotel as a beach club, but there was no beach. All the reviews are misleading, portraying the hotel as wonderfu.

I must express my profound disappointment with my recent stay at the Albatroz Yacht and Beach Club. The glowing reviews on your site are a stark contrast to the reality I encountered. The hotel is not just tired; it is glaringly old and rundown. The rooms are cramped and outdated. Specifically, my room had a cracked bathroom sink and an impractically small bath, which is simply unacceptable. Moreover, the term "beach club" is grossly misleading as there was no beach to be found. This was one of my primary reasons for booking, and to say I feel deceived is an understatement. The reviews on your site need to reflect the true state of this establishment. The current descriptions are far from factual and do not accurately represent the experience offered. This excellent hotel lived up to the brilliant reviews we had read, prior to booking. We had a spacious room (superior sea view) and it was clean and very comfortable. The view was great and a complimentary bowl of fruit was a nice welcoming touch on arrival. Beach towels are supplied and changed daily. We also received a complimentary pick up from the nearby airport and lift back on departure day. Speaking of the airport it is nearby but the hotel is very peaceful. I liked watching the planes coming in as we walked to Santa Cruz (15 min walk from the hotel but does include a few minute walk by the motorway and steep slope into the town) Reception will arrange a taxi, if preferred. The staff were amazing from Sandra and the team on Reception to the wonderful Restaurant team led by the excellent Claudia. This included Fabricio, Francisco and Anna. They were so friendly, professional and at the top of their game. I was particularly impressed by how many languages they spoke to cater for the wide range of guests. The food was of great quality from breakfast to lunch and dinner, we sampled all and good choices were available. Housekeeping were very good too and our room was serviced by mid morning everyday. For a peaceful holiday this is the place to go (some days we had the pool to ourselves as many guests come for the hiking experience and are out during the day. We would definitely stay here again if the towns nearby had more to offer. Santa Cruz is a quiet town, quaint, but has only a few restaurants and no other real night life and very few shops (most are closed during the evening so this is a shame if you want a browse around after dinner) This is the same in Machico. we did not have the opportunity to be at the hotel despite the paid reservation due to the fires that broke out in August 2024. unfortunately we paid the entire stay. we were afraid to come due to the uncontrolled situation and the constant spread of the fire. on the day of writing the review, the fire covers 7.5k ha of land. we asked to change the date or cancel the reservation. the way of talking, arrogance and lack of understanding of the situation is unacceptable. the management does not sign their name and surname, you do not know who is writing. arrogantly replies that there is no possibility of change and they are not interested in anything except money. very unfair behavior. arrogance and lack of any will to cooperate and find a solution.

An upscale quaint waterfront hotel with gorgeous grounds and amazing service. We had an amazing time in our family vacation. The sea water hotel is stunning (but gets closed often when sea is rough)- no worries , there is another “regular” pool on the property. The hotel staff is kind, knowledgeable and professional. Rooms were comfortable - we also appreciated a welcome bowl of fruit and a bottle of bubbly upon arrival. Any minor issue was dealt with immediately. We had such a good time and would hope to be back!

A small quiet hotel with great staff, good facilities, a tennis court with great sea views, excellent restaurant. Easy to travel into the capital via public transport. Near to the airport but not noisy due to the way the hotel is built. Large spacious rooms with coffee facilities. Reception staff very helpful in booking day trips, very competitively priced. Fantastic pool jutting out into the sea.

Excelent expirience! The personal from the resort was profesional and very supportive. The food is amazing at the restaurant and the view is stunning! All over the place is a luxurious atmosphere and is a great location for dinner! We enjoy pur stay!
