Yes the road up to this hotel was very steep. I did receive a notice the night before our arrival of this advisory. I would say a truck is important to travel up this terrain. The best part of this stay was the food. The food was really amazing. The breakfast had such a variety to offer each morning. Exceptional food and choice at dinner. The breakfast and dinner service was also wonderful. We also experienced the same request of not bringing our water bottles in the pool/bar area. There was not an option to bring an empty water bottle and fill it at the pool. Having signs all over to not bring in outside food or drinks is very uninviting. I understand the problem it could be but please. It is difficult and just not friendly or gracious to be asked just after ordering a drink at the bar, "What is in your water bottle?" If I answer water which is true, I guess I could of asked the bartender to try it? We carry water everywhere in Guatemala. I have traveled many different places and never been asked such a question. I have to say I was disappointed in the quality of the stay for the price. Our room had many different issues. Bugs, yes I know to expect some due to the location, but so many everywhere in our room. All the books on the shelf full of mold/mildew. The shower was leaking along with sitting water on the wood on the bathroom floor (along with mildew all along the shower wall). I didn't even feel comfortable taking a shower. Many lights not working along with the encasement around lights were broken. This hotel property was in need of attention and repair. Many areas of mildew, landscaping needs and just disrepair. The pool was pretty but also too cold to enter. Sorry, I have to say I would not choose to stay here again. For the price, there are other better options.

Beautiful hotel
Breathtaking views, beautiful aesthetic, very attentive and kind staff. Keep in mind there is no A/C or fan in the room, but in March with the window open, we slept fine.

One of the best views of Atitlan lake (panoramic). Nice greek villa-style hotel, with very gentle personel. Food is great, and the vanilla ice cream is one of the best I've tasted in Guatemala (Desserts are above average!) I also recommed taking the sauna. Entering the hotel is a chilling driving experience, with a very inclined 1 lane street. Can be dangerous, therefore my 4 star rating.

Muchas gracias!

Privileged location to enjoy stunning views. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Prepare to negotiate plenty of stair. If driving, going up to the parking area can be challenging.

e stayed at Tzampoc for 4 nights. (Saturday, February 17th to Wednesday the 21st) Our room was $300 a night and definitely lacking in some areas. First and foremost, there was NO safe or mini fridge. At $300 a night for a bougee resort where they clean your room each day I thought this was bizarre. They also only had shower gel and shampoo. No conditioner or body lotion. At $300 a night, come on!! We had some issues throughout our stay which I did voice to the staff as I don’t like having to make negative reviews. When we arrived, we had just finished hiking Acatenango. Eros gave us his WhatsApp # if we needed anything. We had leftovers from lunch, so I went to the restaurant to ask for some silverware & napkins so we could finish it. They told me silverware and napkins were for dine in only (even though I did explain we were staying there and wanted to finish our leftovers). Fine. I contacted Eros and he brought some. First I showered then my fiancé did. At the end of my shower it went from hot to warm then my fiance didn’t have hot water at all. Another morning, my fiance showered and didn’t have any hot water again. Mind you I hadn’t even showered before him. We told them and they took care of this as they have solar panels that heat up the water. On the first night our TV was also static so we couldn’t really watch. We told them the next day and they fixed that as well. So hot water and tv they did take care of. I will give them that. Breakfast was great each morning. What really set me over the edge was on our last day we finally decided to soak up the infinity pool. I went down to the pool first and started ordering aperol spritzes for my fiance and I. When he arrived at the pool, he had a water bottle. The bartender told him he could not bring it into the pool area. Bizarre. I ask the bartender if we could bring the water from our room that the resort gives us. He said no. There was no water offered at the pool and we had to BUY bottled water at the pool even though we were buying cocktails AND food AND were guests at the resort. By the way, we ran up a tab that was equivalent to $100 USD. After this I voiced my complaints to management. They said the reasoning was because in the past people have put liquor in water bottles. Ok that’s fair if you don’t want people bringing it in for that reason, BUT you should have filtered water at the pool then and not make people pay for it. Other hotels that weren’t nearly as high end a this one had water out for guests to consume whenever. All in all, this place is overhyped. I will say the breakfast was great, but instead of staying here, I’d recommend buying a day pass for the pool at $25 USD and having cocktails and food there for the day. The staff was very kind, but I can tell the owner runs a tight ship. He’d be around yet barely say hello. Even after I voiced my complaint about the water they still charged me and btw, my fiance and I are in the hospitality industry and tip generously.
