B&B - Podere Monti

Podere Monti is a gorgeous agriturismo overlooking the Tuscan countryside of Montepulciano. Alberto and Lucrezia are incredible hosts, offering a breakfast spread of meats and cheeses, freshly baked pastries, cakes, cookies. Alberto will make you eggs to order (I requested every method of egg I could think of, and he exceeded every expectation). They offered homemade preserves made fruit grown on the farm. Momma Mia, this was just breakfast! The property is a 10 minute drive to the city of Montepulciano, 30 min from Pienza, and 50 min from Sienna. The perfect distance to spend a day in the hilltop cities, and return for a dip in the blue tiled pool. Podere Monti is an ideal place to stay. The amenities and services are comparable to a five star hotel. My only regret is not purchasing the additional cooking course offered by Alberto. But, there will be another visit. I would be remiss not to mention the affiliated vineyard, Croce di Febo. Incredible wines and a stunning view. Do yourself a favor and request a tour.

We loved our experience staying in this villa as a group of 10 (5 couples). The setting is wonderful beside a working vineyard with olive and fruit trees and walking distance to the local village for pastries, groceries, wine and beer. There is plenty of room and we each had large bedrooms with comfy 4 poster beds and all with ensuite bathrooms. Great memories sitting out under the pergola drinking wine and reflecting over our day trips and planning more. It totally lived up to expectations and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

This was my second time staying here with friends. the first time in 2015, when 14 of us stayed a week. This time there were 7 of us and we stayed 2 weeks. We plan to return again in 2023 or 2024 ( or both!). The villa is absolutely lovely, inside and out. The location is perfect. We would walk into Sant Albino for cappachino and pasties every morning. The afternoons were spent either relaxing at the villa or touring one of the many nearby hill towns. In the evening, we walked into town for dinner at Tre Stelle or La Bottega Marta— both excellent. Twice w had a chef come to the villa to prepare a delicious dinner for us. There is a small grocery store in town too. We were so pleased to become “instant locals” inn town. Silvia, the owner,is absolutely lovely. She helped arrange our days and found a driver for us this time ( Remigio), who was very professional and fun, as we didn’t want to have to drive this time. She arranged the chef ( Lucretia), who planned and prepared delicious dinners for us ( with plenty of leftovers). Don’t miss taking a tour of Silvia’s winery (Croce de Febo), where we learned about their organic and sustainable production methods and tasted the vino nobile Montepulciano. I even bought a case that she is shipping to the states for me. In short, Podere Monti is perfect. It is authentic and delightful.
