We’ve been coming here multiple times per year for years. I was very disappointed this last visit. First, they charge you to park - without even asking if you have a cat there. They just tack on $15/night. It has its own, large parking lot. It’s not limited in any way, there is absolutely no reason to charge for parking. I was blindsided by this, as when I made my reservation, it only listed 2 resorts that pay to park. Not Sandusky. The desk attendant said “yeah they just decided to make it across the board and charge here too.” Next, no more room microwaves! Having a microwave has always been a nice perk. I asked and was told “no rooms have microwaves, but you can find one at the end of the hall on the 2nd and 3rd floors.” We were on the 4th floor, this is a major inconvenience. It was implied they never had microwaves in the room. That’s simply not true, they have been removed. No more clock tower show with animatronics. This was actually stopped at our last visit, but I’m mentioning it now as it’s just added to the list of things they take away, you get less and less each visit, while paying more and more. It’s time for some sort of addition, it’s already the smallest GWL, so when they do things like adding parking, it shouldn’t be held to the same price gouging as some of the bigger, better parks are held. Rooms are always fairly clean. Staff is usually friendly, but this time was not accommodating or apologetic for my complaints. I did address the issues I had, but was pretty much blown off. In the past, if I had an issue, they attempted to make it right in some way. Not this time. We’ve always enjoyed the smaller, cozy vibes as opposed to Kalahari. I think it’s time for us to make the move over to Kalahari, as GWL acts like a large resort in their fees, but actually isn’t.
