I booked this as a 3 night getaway for myself and my brother as he had just recently lost his wife and thought a trip to the Isle of Wight where we have spent many holidays since childhood would do him good.Upon arrival at check in at the nominated time of 3pm,found no reception staff at the desk and had to ring a buzzer to summon someone to eventually come out of the back office.Upon giving my name was told, quote” ah yes.A double with sea view”when we had in fact booked a twin room.Thank goodness I had a paper confirmation copy with me that stated twin room. After tweaking around on his computer we were given a twin room with double bed and sofa bed at the back of the hotel but the sofa bed had to be made up,and to facilitate this we told him we would just drop our bags off and go out.Upon returning 2.5 hours later, nothing had been done.I returned to reception and was greeted by a very helpful member of staff(Leanne) who rectified the problem immediately by come up to the room herself with bedding and towels and made up the sofa bed herself stating the information hadn’t been passed on.I got the feeling that our booking and original room had been reallocated to someone shortly before our own arrival.Rant over, the staff were generally cheerful and the breakfast was what you would expect for an unlimited buffet style breakfast. The location on the seafront was ideal but feel that with some exceptions, the staff were unprofessional in manner and dress(no corporate uniform just own jeans and tee shirts).Would I stay again? Probably for the location. As a footnote, upon checking out I saw the original receptionist and said to him”did you forget anything the other day when we booked in”.Leaning back in his chair and hands behind his head, said,” I don’t ever forget things”
