The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our family room had a double bed and a twin and a bathroom with a bath. The room had a great view of the beach. The ground floor reception, bar and restaurant are lovely and the food was great! We had the Cawl was so good me and my mum had it twice in three nights! My son had the burger, one night I had steak and my mum and son both had the fish and chips. All the food was great and reasonably priced. Breakfast was decent and we were able to take it up to our room which really suited my son. Aberavon beach is a great place for kids with the promenade, crazy golf, play area, splash park and skate park. And it’s a short drive from Swansea and the mumbles. The hotel was exactly what we expected it to be, having had recommendations from neighbours. To keep the price low, they don’t change your room during your stay unless you want to pay extra but you can get towels changed at no charge. Some of the upstairs of the hotel are being decorated and some of the decor is a little tired in places but I’m sure the decorating will sort that out soon. The outside of the building isn’t terribly attractive but it’s in a great location opposite the beach.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The reception, foyer and bar area were really appealing. And the seafront location is perfect. The rooms were very nice, as were the staff. The only 2 criticisms I would make is that on a cool wet night, our room was so hot, as was the dining room for breakfast. And for breakfast, which was great, it might be advisable to cook smaller amounts, and top up regularly. Because some of the hot food was not as warm as it should have been. In terms of value for money, our bed and breakfast was amazing! All in all, a really good choice!

Where to start. Well, I guess the location is lovely, ample car park, and right on the sea front. However, there are problems, or at least I had problems. My door key never worked! each time I came back I had to get it reprogrammed. I was told this was because I kept it with my smart phone. Well, actually, I left the key in my car boot, so nowhere near my phone. The extractor fans were outside my room. They were exeptionally noisy, and filled my room with the smell of meat being cooked. Being a veggie, this was horrid. I complained, and went to reception. Nobody was there, I waited for 20 minutes, no bell to call anyone, and nobody about. I phoned reception in the end from my phone and then I got a reply. That was the other thing. There was often nobody at reception. There is no way of contacting a member of staff you just stand there wondering what to do. Eventually they will turn up. So you cannot get in your room, you cannot find a member of staff to reprogramme your key, so you are left in reception. Really not good enough, the room was baking hot, and the staff seemed quite disinterested at times. Shame, this could be an amazing place.

I arrived on a Sunday for my 2nd visit. Had a sea view 1st floor room. Unpacked. After a long car journey I had to use the bathroom. Flushed and the water just continued to pour into the bowl. Went to reception. He came up to look at it. Said he had fixed it but the maintenance man did not work on a Sunday so would get him to look at it the next day. Went out for the rest of the day. Next morning the toilet would not flush at all. Back to reception. Was told the maintenance man had gone off sick. I was on my way out but insisted I wanted it fixed. Came back......not fixed still no flush. Back to reception and more than l little agitated. Said I wanted something done before I came back later. Returned around 10pm to be told it was not fixed but I had to change rooms. So around 10:30 after repacking I moved to another room. The rest of my stay was great, new room had a great view, breakfast was fantastic as was my previous stay, if you found where they were serving it! it changed locations. The staff were trying their best with what they have. The ONE maintenance man for the whole hotel goes sick....nothing gets fixed. I do enjoy my visits and will definitely be returning again. It is so handy for the beach, the parking is a bonus and the WiFi is great. On my next trip I will be interested to see how the new windows in the dining area look.
