Stay at this lovely charming hotel If you are traveling through the middle of France it would be a mistake to skip Tours. It would be a bigger mistake to not stay at Francois’s wonderful old fashioned hotel. You will be delighted

We had been staying in another hotel 100m away but had to move due to our room being unavailable for another night. Check in wasn't allowed until 3pm and there was nowhere to put our cases so we had to carry them round with us and the online check-in wouldn't work. We got in the hotel at 3pm but our room was still being "cleaned" - eventually got into our room at 3.30pm which is ridiculous for £100 a night. We fell asleep for an hour or so, and when I woke up I noticed a strong smell of urine and discovered that it was coming from the blanket over the bottom of the bed. I emailed the hotel to say that we needed to change rooms. To wait for the reply we popped out for a bite to eat and then we got a phone call from the hotel to say that we could change to another hotel, but this was about a quarter of a mile away (in the new town, we wanted to be in the old town) and it was by now 5pm, we would have wasted a full day by time we had packed up and moved. I explained this and said that we would stay in the room but would expect a partial refund (and suggested 30 euros) - I was told that they would see what they could do. A few minutes later I received an email to say they would not give any compensation as they had offered another room. We were too tired to argue, but beware as the standard of cleaning throughout the room was very poor, a total contrast to the first hotel (Old City House - can highly recommend). This hotel is barely hostel standard for the price of a 4 star hotel, location is great - but no good if they expect you to move!!

Excellent stay in the heart of the old town. I was nervous about staying here after reading some negative reviews but needn’t have worried. I didn’t receive the door codes so called when I arrived and the woman I spoke to was really helpful - she sent me them on WhatsApp. She stayed on the phone to make sure I could enter the property. The room (3 single beds) was decorated nicely and was really clean. The beds were comfortable. There was a water dispenser in the hallway and maps etc. Both bathrooms were spacious and very clean despite being shared facilities. We didn’t wait to use them at all. I suspect if we’d stayed in the peak of summer, we may have had to wait our turn. Location was fantastic - right in the old town and 5mins walk to the beach. We could hear noise from the bars but we chose to stay on the main street where the bars are so we expected noise. It didn’t go on too late. I am a lone female with 2 daughters (14 and 11) and felt completely safe staying here - in fact, it was one of our favourite stops on our backpacking trip. Would definitely stay here again.

The property is located right in the center of all the night life. It certainly adds excitement to the experience but don't plan on going to bed early (before midnight).
