Hotel Mansion Real

We love this place. Stayed here this week for our second time. We are from Colorado and live in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit, during the winter. We try to schedule a "getaway" retreat at least once each year during our stay between December and May. We stayed here two years ago for one night and enjoyed it very much. This time we stayed just one night again, Tuesday night. Rented two rooms one for us and one for our daughter accompanying. We were once again very impressed and delighted. The Mansion and the rooms are all beautifully preserved historic Spanish Colonial architecture. The rooms are very well appointed with beautiful tile work, woodwork, monogramed blankets and sheets. Pillows abound! Coffee and cookies are served in the lobby in the morning. Many rooms have wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. There is a wonderful private courtyard with tons of flowers and plants overlooking the valley and the mountains. There are several tables and chairs where you can relax and chat anytime. We found it an excellent spot to enjoy a margarita (BYOB) before going out to dinner. The owners are very attentive and live on the premises. They are always only a button push away. For anything you need or want just push the call button at the front desk. They will be there in minutes. The hotel is very secure. No worries about people just passing through. Everyone is admitted personally by the owners. You enter by ringing the doorbell and the front door is always locked behind you when you leave. The Mansion Real is quiet and beautifully serene. The location is very close to the square with all the various shops and restaurants nearby. You will not be disappointed.

We booked here last minute as we needed somewhere to stay in town. And the reviews were brilliant! As it was our anniversary we wanted to book somewhere nice where we thought we would be taken of. Unfortunately, we had a few issues that were perhaps not the hotel's fault but it wasn't really dealt with all too well. When we arrived the booking was not in the system due to the internet being down in the town apparently. Despite public wifi working ....so we had to wait a little while for the booking to come through. We had booked late so this is understandable. The gentleman showed us our room and was very friendly - he did not speak any English and we speak only a very small amount of Spanish but he was friendly and showed us around and carried our bags which was super nice of him. However later that night the power kept going and coming back on and at about 2am it went completely. This meant the fan did not work and we had a really bad night as we were too hot - so we didn't sleep well. We tried to explain to the gentleman in reception in the morning but he did not understand and eventually, we bought him to our room to show the issue and he then went off to try and sort it. He then said it was an issue with the whole town. Although reception had lights working.... Honestly, this is possibly not the hotel's fault but for £115 a night with no breakfast we would have thought they would have offered us some form of discount given we had no electricity all night and all morning. But none was offered despite us asking for this. For this kind of price - we would expect something to be offered or to be advised that power outages are common before booking and we would have booked somewhere much cheaper in town. That said the room was beautiful - it was very quiet - coffee was served in the morning which was nice and the guy was very friendly. But we would not stay again for that high price as we do feel its overpriced given the inconvenience of no internet when we arrived and then no electricity for a whole day. If this does not happen to you though, I am sure you will have a wonderful time!
