At 6am we met the guide Royvin in the reception area for a birdwatching hike. Before we even started the hike, one of the employees walked up and gently handed me a hummingbird. He had rescued the tiny bird after it was found inside one of the buildings. He gave me the privilege of releasing it. Such a wonderful interaction. He not only rescued the little bird, the employee went out of his way to share the experience with us. And Royvin expertly captured the moment in a slow motion video. Priceless! And that was just the beginning of a magical day. So many gorgeous birds. Such beautiful surroundings -- both the natural and manmade ones. Spectacular works of art created from bamboo. Plus, luxurious accommodations and gourmet meals! I asked about a fruit I had never seen before, the chef immediately cut it open so I could taste it. So sweet and creamy! In Spanish, the name is biribás, and in English, "ice cream fruit"

Finca Luna Nueva is an authentic, immersive experience in the rainforest just south of the more heavily touristed area of La Fortuna. The food is good (local, organic), the service impeccable and the people genuinely warm and caring. In particular Jazmin at the front desk with her ever present smile was very helpful, as was Ariel who went out of his way. Elizabeth at the restaurant, and another young man whose name I don’t recollect, were most wonderful hosts. We did the night safari on the property, which was an interesting way to see how many species exist in such a tiny stretch of the trail. We also walked to the bamboo tower and the bird station, and saw several species of birds and some vistas from above the canopy. A special delight was spotting the resident sloths both at night and during breakfast at the trees near the restaurant. The room was clean and the little outdoor spaces make you feel like you’re in your own little patch of forest. The property is not very close to most of the area’s activities and attractions, but rather, is a destination in itself. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants an outstanding farm and forest retreat.

Incredible experience staying at this beautiful spot in the middle of the jungle. We have done the trail and saw lots of animals there. The tour of the farm is highly recommended as it will be a great experience for food lovers. Great experience overall !

It is so peaceful here. The vibe is incredible. It is a piece of paradise in the forest. There is so much to do in the area as well as interesting mini excursions on the property. The office staff (Daniel and Jasmine) are so friendly. You just send them a WhatsApp message about what you want to do next, and they arrange it for you. The food in the restaurant is great... It is fresh and healthy and sourced from the property. In general I don't think Costa Rican cuisine is anything special, but the food on the property is an exception. If you stay here ( which you should) I would definitely recommend doing the night hike with Jason.. it is truly incredible. We also did a private Arenal volcano tour with him, which was also great. The chocolate making experience with Carlos is fun too. Get your excursions done early in the day because it rains in the afternoons..This is the time to lie in the hammock and listen to the rain, the birds and frogs. Overall, my kids love it here and so do I... So sorry I have to leave.

The family bungalows are very comfortable and have lovely outdoor seating areas. We saw many birds while just sitting and relaxing outside our room. The food is delicious and healthy! The farm tour and chocolate tour are both great. They were both highlights of our trip to Costa Rica!

I visited CR in May of 2025, while my son was staying up the hill at the Soltis Center. I had a great experience. The staff here is clearly well trained in hospitality, and anticipates needs. When we arrived, they were anticipating us (I think we were the last to arrive for the day). I rode in with a friend, and they directed us to the reception area. They got us all checked in and described how the property was laid out and worked. Since it was dark, they loaded me and my suitcase up on the golf cart and drove me down to my room. My husband was coming a few days later, and they helped me arrange a transfer from the airport to the property. I actually stayed in 2 different rooms. The first was the family bungalow (which sleeps 6). This room was a little more rugged, but I thought it was great. 2 rooms are air conditioned, and the front room (that sleeps 2) is not. All of the rooms have open windows with screens on them. I slept in the queen air conditioned room, and got cold at night. The water in the shower was hot and had good pressure. Housekeeping cleans every other day, but you can request more often if you need to. I did not have the need for more often. The housekeepers do a great job. I commented several times at the lack of bugs in my room (I've stayed in many tropical places, and this can be an issue). They take their time and make sure it's up to standard. There was seating on the porch, including a hammock. I really enjoyed watching the birds feed off of the flower around my room. After my husband arrived, we moved to the Dome Suite. This is an absolutely beautiful room, with a king size bed. This room had the ability to close the windows, which we did, except in the bathroom we left them open. This room had a private fridge and coffee maker (the family bungalow shared with the other bungalows). No hammock on this porch, but lovely lighting and it was very pleasant to sit on. Again, housekeeping did a great job (the lady that cleaned our room was super sweet, too), and they make the towel-animals, which is fun. I spent several days walking around the trails on the property. At one point, my son's school visited and did the chocolate tour. The tour guide did a great job, and I learned more than I thought I would! On the property I got to see a sloth, toucan, poison frogs, and a host of other wildlife I can't identify. You are truly in the rainforest here. The kitchen staff is very friendly and do a good job of managing orders and keeping up with drinks. I usually don't really care for cocktails, but they really know how to make them here! This particular lodge is very remote. I had booked a couple of tours through Viator, and one cancelled, and I had to pay extra for the other to come pick me up. I would suggest having a rental car to get in and out on your own. The front desk was willing to call them and try to help me arrange the trips, but I ended up figuring it out (my friend became my driver). Overall, this was a great e
