Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin San Marcos

Stayed here twice with no problems

My wife and I stayed in this hotel while visiting our child in college. There is really nothing too complain about as long as you are able to obtain a decent price. The rooms are nice and clean and the and you get a free basic breakfast too. The location is decent on I-35. It was a quick $12 Uber ride to the square as well.

The good: Quiet = other than the highway out front, the hotel was quiet inside. Bed = very comfortable. Bath towels = have a nice fresh scent. Good hot shower with adequate pressure. Good breakfast coffee which very briefly ran out. The fair: The Elevator seemed to have a mind of its own, likely due to operator errors. Breakfast - basic Fairfield breakfast. Oatmeal was a bit on the watery side. Could be better for older travelers: Toilets are low height. The bad: All of the lamp electric outlets in our 4th floor room were completely worn out. Using any of them for a phone charger was a serious hit or miss proposition. Bringing a power ***** is highly advisable.

*The room was cramped & dated. The beds were too soft even for my teenage daughters. The A/C did not cool the room properly. We turned it way down & the room never cooled off completely. None of us slept well due to the soft beds & lack of cool air. *The bathroom was spacious & there was plenty of extra counter space. It was also dated & could use a refresh. *The staff at the desk were courteous. The location was good for going back & forth to the Texas State University campus. *Due to the poor sleep quality, we will try another hotel in the area for our next visit.

Pro: Great, clean room. Good size space. Nice location. Friendly desk workers. Con: Only decaf tea/coffee in room. shower needed a bit more pressure, swimming pool lacking - missed having a hot tub. No waffles - daughter missed having "hotel waffles."

We were attending an early Oath of Allegiance Ceremony at the college and decided to stay overnight the day before. Initially, I had issues with our online booking so called the hotel and spoke with Chris. He was very kind, helpful and professional and immediately corrected it for me. The hotel had some upgrades going on but did not affect our stay. Our room was spotless, the bed comfortable, with a huge bathroom with shower and good amenities. Buffet breakfast was very good with interesting dishes such as mini quiches and good coffee. The staff we interacted with were all friendly and helpful. A very good stay, we would heartily recommend this Fairfield Inn.

I was lucky enough to land here after a trip from Australia. The reception staff were friendly and efficient and were able to get us into our rooms early after a long flight. The rooms are perfectly appointed albeit on a main road so you can’t leave the windows open. There is also a train line somewhere nearby that wakes you up at random times during the night. The beds are so comfy that I struggled to get up in the morning. The shower was hot and every part of the room was immaculate. In fact the entire complex was spotless. Breakfast was included and although it was lacking bacon and sausages on some mornings there were plenty of scrambled eggs, toast and fruit to fill you up. One thing us foreigners really miss is a proper coffee or tea cup. Thin paper cups in the room and the restaurant wear thin. Overall, this hotel worked well. Although if it wasn’t for the surrounding restaurants and bars we’d be in trouble.

Rather expensive but as a single older woman traveling alone, I felt very safe. This was my second stay and the breakfast offerings and safety was why I chose to stay here again. Nice rooms but not anything special. Bathrooms could use a maintenance check as faucet was not working correctly and sink was slow to drain.
