Candlewood Suites San Marcos

This San Marcus Candlewood Suites is very nice the staff is very friendly and the hotel has been recently renovated. The housekeeping team did a great job with serving our rooms. The GM must be a great leader because the team is all about the guest.

Upon walking in, we were told the KeyCard system was down. So check-in took almost 45 minutes because it was done manually on a different system. The elevators were also not working, and there was no ETA for repairs. Upon reading other reviews after our return home, this has been happening for months, including people reporting roaches. We had to be escorted to our (3) suites) on the 4th floor, hauling luggage for 10 people, and let into our rooms with their master key cards. We were advised that it would be better not to lock our doors if we planned to go out. Not lock our doors? But the worst was yet to come.... upon waking up in the morning, there was a large roach crawling on top of the comforter while we were still in the bed!!! Then we saw smaller roaches in the restrooms. When we reported it to the front desk, her response was "OH". No apologies, she did not seem concerned and was not surprised. We will never stay there again. The hotel looks nothing like the pictures; it is outdated and run down and in need of repairs as well as being exterminated for roaches. YES we tried to cancel and get a refund when we first got there however we were told we needed to contact ******* as that is who we booked through. We tried to find another room that could accommodate 10 of us and we’re unable to find anything due to the fact that it was Texas state weekend or college move in which is the reason we were there. Then on Monday I contacted ******* and was told that Candlewood refused to give us a refund and that it was really up to them and not to ******* 😡

Shelby was really nice and the hotels were really good rooms, the beds wee comfy and love the area close by it, nice and white place with low to zero noise

Property was fine and staff was great. Room was good size & clean. It’s just very much in an industrial area and by a railroad.
