Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Marcos South

Book somewhere else. I booked two rooms for 7 people and only had 2 bath towels in each room. I wasn’t told I needed to fill out a house keeping form at check in. So no one came to refresh our room our second day. When I asked for more towels the front desk lady said she could only give us two clean ones because they didn’t have enough and others were asking to. The floors were dirty the toilet was loose. The room itself was dusty and not wiped down. I will not stay again.

This hotel claims to be concerned about safety but has recently moved the fitness center in a second floor guest room so it is very small. There are so many issues here. First since it was a guest room there are no windows except to outside second floor- so no visibility. It is not safe for anyone especially females. There are no cameras to monitor it (not that that would be enough as someone would have to monitor it constantly). The lighting is so poor that even if you went in with a companion you can't safely use the equipment. I don't know who the brainiac was that thought this was a good idea but it is absolutely the worst fitness room I have ever seen. I workout when I travel and that is important to me. I have NEVER complained about a safety issue at any Holiday Inn associated hotel in my 40 years of staying with them. I booked for 2 nights. I did not ask for a refund or a price adjustment when I saw the room the first night. I only asked that I be allowed to cancel and move. Emily (who said she was a manager) said "no" that I was too late to cancel the second night. Other issues - telephone in the room did not work. No working ice machine on first or second floor. Those aren't show stoppers but the exercise room, lack of concern for safety, and lack of customer service for legitimate concerns are. Obviously I won't be back. The pictures I will attach will make the room look bright but it is an extended exposure.

Location was great , front desk staff checking in was awesome. Breakfast food was hot and plentiful
