La Lomita Ranch

I have to say WOW; La Lomita Ranch is a total hidden gem -- my husband and I feel like we've stumbled onto a hidden treasure. We went on a honeymoon roadtrip from NorCal to SoCal and needed a place to stop for a night to rest on our way back - a friend who went to college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo recommended La Lomita and we were absolutely blown away once we arrived. This place is a labor of love -- I am from Spain and I felt like I was at home, but with a California twist. They have beautiful Spanish courtyards with authentic tilework that is an actual work of art, and we were so in love with the animals at the ranch!! It is incredibly well-maintained (and it's a big property) and absolutely gorgeous. It has the prettiest barn cat and the cleanest barn I've seen in my life with beautiful horses, in a nod to the property's history as an Arabian horse breeding ranch. We loved hearing about the property from Darlene, the chef who prepares a Spanish-style breakfast that was a true highlight. The rooms are clean, very spacious, and absolutely beautiful with the authentic tilework and barn-style layout and stylized doors. The ranch is clear about the fact that there is not tv in the rooms, but they have tablets for you to watch online shows on. They also left a bottle of wine in our room as a honeymoon present, which was very sweet, and they leave a basket of local products for all the guests - a very nice touch! I almost never write reviews, but I am doing this because I was so blown away by how beautiful and well-taken care of this place is. My husband and I stayed at a bunch of fancy hotels all up and down the California cost that were 2x the price of La Lomita, but La Lomita was by far the coolest and most interesting. We are already looking for excuses to randomly go to San Luis Obispo so we can stay here and show more people how absolutely amazing something can be when passion and hard work are poured into it.

This place is simply amazing! I travel extensively for work and have stayed in some fantastic international properties. La Lomita is by far none, the best I’ve ever stayed in!! It has a small quaint feeling. The rooms are incredibly luxurious, private and very quite. The bed sheets are so comfortable that I did not want to get out of bed in the morning! My bath towels were better than any 5-star hotel. The breakfast was a simply European breakfast with fresh pressed coffee! The honey served each morning is from the La Lomita beehives and the jam is from the berry vines harvested on site. Each sunrise and sunset were beautiful! The only part of my trip that I regretted was leaving! Thank you for making this retreat so awesome and relaxing!

This was ideal for us, a gorgeous inn truly in the country, yet 10 minutes by car from the restaurants and attractions of San Luis Obispo. We were delighted with the large suite, Room 100. Other rooms are on the small side and a bit dark. The rooms don't have blackout curtains and have three high windows without shades. Walls were a bit thin--we could hear people talking next door. Our suite had a kitchen, but there was no cooktop and not even a microwave. The grounds are gorgeous. The owner was away and there was no one to ask for advice on restaurants, wineries or attractions.

Gorgeous venue! The staff took care of everything! Our daughter’s wedding was a dream!❤️ Every detail was perfect! We can’t say enough about La Lomita Ranch! We stayed in the Hacienda, which was beautiful! The daily breakfasts were delicious and such a treat! Highly recommend this place!

Beautiful property, scenic views of the valley. Animals on the ranch to visit. Beautiful restored Spanish style rooms. Did a wine tasting with Scott, who was very friendly. The breakfast reminded me of being Europe. Only a 5-10 minute drive to San Luis. Looked like an ideal place to host a wedding or an event.
