La Terraza is a nice boutique hotel in old San Juan and located great. We had a balcony suite, and it was surprisingly clean and spacious. We had to ask for towels each day, but those at the desk were very kind about getting us what we needed. The pool looked like a large infinity in the picture, but really it was a tiny wading pool...the rooftop terrace was lovely and inviting for a midnight rendezvous. We wish the bar was open or the drink machine worked, and it would've been nice.
The breakfast was delightful and homemade...and there was always coffee or tea available.
I would definitely stay here again for its quaintness and location. We had a fine stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I stayed here in July 2025, and this place is infested with bed bugs. After two nights, my sister and I were covered in bites. We found proof on the mattress: rust spots, molting, and live bugs in the seams. The mattress was filthy and clearly (see pictures) had not been replaced in years. Management is undoubtedly aware of the problem, yet continues to rent out infested rooms. We were switched to a different room, which was also dirty, but the damage was done. The management has since done absolutely nothing to rectify the situation. No refund, no compensation for our ruined clothes, and no apology for the immense stress. The presence of such a severe infestation implies gross negligence. So gross. Save yourself the trauma and spend your money elsewhere.

🚨 WARNING ABOUT LA TERRAZA 🚨 I am beyond disgusted. I stayed at La Terraza and discovered bed bugs in the bed. Yes, BED BUGS. This is absolutely unacceptable, unsanitary, and shows a complete disregard for guests’ health and safety. To make matters even worse, the manager Deborah has avoided reaching out to me for over a month. No acknowledgment, no apology, no resolution. The silence and lack of accountability only add to the outrage. Instead of providing a clean and safe environment, this place exposed me to a nightmare that no guest should ever have to experience. Bed bugs are not only horrifying, they spread quickly, and it’s appalling that a business like this is operating without properly addressing such a serious infestation. To anyone considering staying here: think twice. No vacation, no trip, no price is worth risking bringing home bed bugs. La Terraza — and its management — should be ashamed and held accountable for allowing such unsafe and unhygienic conditions.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Apparently, no one manages this place. I spent my entire stay trying to speak to someone about my issues and called and emailed for weeks afterward, but every time the manager was unavailable. This place is such a scam; it’s much older and more run-down than the photos. You get extremely hot or cold water, with no in-between. The real issue is that the wifi didn’t work at all, and I needed it for my business. I had to go somewhere else during my entire stay and work in a café over 100 degrees instead of in my overpriced room. I spoke to someone at the desk every single day, but they could never help me or find anyone who could. It ruined my whole trip and really set me back with work. If I could have just talked to someone about it, that would have been great. I sent them many emails and asked to resolve this before I left a review, but I had no other options and had to WARN PEOPLE NOT TO STAY HERE OR THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY.

Great staff, excellent breakfast and a overall nice historic building. There’s also a small pool on the rooftop that gives you a beautiful view of the Port of San Juan.

Great service, food, and atmosphere. Located in the rooftop of a hitel, with great view and a pool. We had the arepas, shakshuka, and the toston especial for breakfast. Coffee was complimentary.
